Spend 90 minutes learning how to run, facilitate and lead virtual spaces with PCC level coach, Ashlee Sikorski. You will leave with: tools on how to interact with your team digitally, connection tips for different learning styles, setting up a call, do/don't of virtual spaces and a space for applied learning.
Come ready to participate by:

- Prepared for interaction with other participants
Ashlee Sikorski is a PCC credentialed coach based in Portland, Oregon. She works with organizations to build an advantageous team culture through human connection. She is a coach and owner at Sway Leadership, a leadership development company. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Vanguard University and a Graduate Certificate in Transformational Coaching from Western Seminary where she now adjunct teaches. She also studied at the CP Enneagram Academy and is a practitioner of the Enneagram personality theory. That is what led her to found the Nine Shapes Project, which is a container to facilitate meaningful conversations. |

But what makes a compelling story? And how can you improve your ability to tell stories that persuade? Learn techniques to use in an interview when you want to convey your experience in a compelling and interesting way. Tell a story to generate the attention you need to move a project forward.
Are you a woman with 15 or more years of experience working in technology?
Do you want to spend time with other women in tech who understand your point of view as someone who has been in this industry for a while? PDXWIT’s Experienced Women in Tech events work to foster a community for women like you.
On May 21st, join PDXWIT and host Edgelink for an entertaining and practical event where you will learn:
Why storytelling is such an important skill
How to use common narrative structures to make your stories more memorable and effective
How to apply these techniques to your own stories
Bring a story of your own (factual or fictional); you will have a chance to give it a makeover, and to learn from others as they do the same.
The evening will involve a story about storytelling, and then we'll break out into small groups and rewrite the story you brought with you — or write one while you're there. We'll reconvene with a few examples of your story makeover and hear how you used a new framework to enhance your story.
Phil Weber, a professional trainer, fantastic storyteller and local musician will coach us on techniques that can transform the way we tell a tale.

Anika Horn is on a mission to support changemakers build purpose-driven careers, organizations and ecosystems without losing themselves
Rooted at the intersection of systems thinking, social impact and storytelling, she helps changemakers lead impact-driven careers and meaningful lives by equipping them with thought-provoking insights, field-tested resources and a strong peer community at Social Venturers. Through her advisory services, Anika works closely with selected purpose-driven entrepreneurs in the areas of strategy, communications, personal and professional growth. She leverages her global network to raise the profile of ecosystem building for social change as a contributing editor for Impact Boom (where she covers Europe and the U.S.) and Ecosystem Builder Hub (where she heads up the national campaign Unsung Ecosystem of Ecosystem Building) as well as co-lead of storytelling at the ESHIP Storytelling Initiative.
Previously, Anika co-founded Unreasonable Lab VA (Virginia’s first mini-accelerator for social entrepreneurs), CO.STARTERS VA (a startup program for idea-stage founders) and Rebelle Con (a boutique conference for entrepreneurial women). For this meeting we have a presentation with Brian Kimball talking about Microsoft Graph API, how to use it as a SharePoint-y developer/administrator.
This session will be a beginners guide to getting started with using the Office Graph API and why I've started to adopt it. Powershell has been the foundation administration language for SharePoint environments and still is in many scenarios. However, the future is Graph API and I will show you what got me started using it and why I turn to it first now. We tell stories all the time: to persuade someone to support our idea, to explain to an employee how they might improve, or to inspire a team that is facing challenges. It’s an essential skill. But what makes a compelling story? And how can you improve your ability to tell stories that persuade? Learn techniques to use in an interview when you want to convey your experience in a compelling and interesting way. Tell a story to generate the attention you need to move a project forward.
On May 21st, join PDXWIT and host Edgelink for an entertaining and practical event where you will learn:
Why storytelling is such an important skill
How to use common narrative structures to make your stories more memorable and effective
How to apply these techniques to your own stories
Bring a story of your own (factual or fictional); you will have a chance to give it a makeover, and to learn from others as they do the same.
The evening will involve a story about storytelling, and then we'll break out into small groups and rewrite the story you brought with you — or write one while you're there. We'll reconvene with a few examples of your story makeover and hear how you used a new framework to enhance your story.
Phil Weber, a professional trainer, fantastic storyteller and local musician will coach us on techniques that can transform the way we tell a tale.

The evening will involve a story about storytelling, and then we'll break out into small groups and rewrite the story you brought with you — or write one while you're there. We'll reconvene with a few examples of your story makeover and hear how you used a new framework to enhance your story.
Phil Weber, a professional trainer, fantastic storyteller and local musician will coach us on techniques that can transform the way we tell a tale.

Purpose:
PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.
