create Calagator::Event 1250475181 Time Series Prediction of SNOTEL Data Roll back

description nil Sunil Rao will be presenting his past research on SNOTEL data using the time series prediction. Drought is a serious problem in much of the U.S., with the worst conditions across the southern and western parts of the nation. Much of irrigation and recreation facilities depend on proper forecasting of streamflow. The water supply for irrigation largely comes from rivers and creeks, whose streamflow originates from the springtime melting of winter snow. A water supply forecast is a prediction of streamflow volume that will flow past a point on a stream during a specified season, typically in the spring and summer. One of the primary sources for the data is through NRCS SNOTEL( Snow Telemetry) data (available to the public as part of tax dollars at work). In this demo, we showcase one such tool (Timeseries ARIMAX model) to forecast Streamflow volume for Deschutes River Basin, OR and later compare with actual data to see how it performed. If you would like to join the discussion check us out on Zoom https://zoom.us/j/7891236789. Do you want to learn and share your passion in a supportive community? create Calagator::Event 1250475171 Portland OWASP - OWASP Top Ten For Javascript Developers with Lewis Ardern Roll back

description nil OWASP Top 10 for JavaScript Developers The OWASP Top 10 is a powerful awareness document for web application security. It represents a broad consensus about the most critical security risks to web applications. With the release of the OWASP TOP 10 2017 we saw new issues rise as contenders of most common issues in the web landscape. Much of the OWASP documentation displays issues, and remediation advice/code relating to Java, C++, and C#; however not much relating to JavaScript. JavaScript has drastically changed over the last few years with the release of Angular, React, and Vue, alongside the popular use of NodeJS and its libraries/frameworks. This talk will introduce you to the OWASP Top 10 explaining JavaScript client and server-side vulnerabilities. Lewis Ardern is a Senior Security Consultant at Synopsys. His primary areas of expertise are in web security and security engineering. Lewis enjoys creating and delivering security training to various types of organizations and institutes in topics such as web and JavaScript security. He is also the founder of the Leeds Ethical Hacking Society and has helped develop projects such as bXSS (https://github.com/LewisArdern/bXSS) and SecGen (https://github.com/cliffe/secgen).

Additionally, we'll discuss hard skills and the lesser known "soft skills" that a lot of folks in general have a hard time understanding. Moderator, Lieghti Sharp, will be asking questions about how POCs can put their best foot forward and land that tech job. We want you to participate too! Bring question, business cards, and have your LinkedIn app ready to use. There will be networking with food and drinks after the panel discussion.

update Calagator::Event 1250475165 AgilePDX User Group - Portland Metro - Agile Unbounded: re-imagining education Roll back

description <p>While our tech-based companies are struggling to find the talent needed to grow a new creative economy, our schools are still stuck in a 100-year-old model that was designed to produce workers for an industrial age. Students desperately want to be a part of the future but many are struggling to understand why they are even showing up to school each day. Here in Oregon, we have the second worst graduation rate in the entire country. Some would joke that we are the Mississippi of the West, except that Mississippi now has a higher graduation rate.</p> <p>Four years ago Innovate Oregon launched The Dayton Experiment, in Dayton Oregon, a rural community in Yamhill County where two-thirds of the students live in poverty and a third of the students are Hispanic.</p> <p>This experiment explored what might happen if you took the agile mindsets, skillsets, and toolsets from our agile community and partnered with a school district to re-imagine education. Might it be possible for an entire school district to transform from a traditional teaching institution into a dynamic learning organization, one that unleashes the creative genius of their students?</p> <p>Today, Dayton has a 97% graduation rate and recently sent a student design team to be showcased at MIT. It is inspiring agile cultural transformations in districts throughout the entire state.</p> <p>Thompson will be sharing the story of this journey and lessons that have been learned when bringing agile to a complex ecosystem. These lessons have direct implications for companies seeking to scale agile within their organizations.</p> <p>Bio</p> <p>Thompson Morrison is the Founder and Chief Evangelist for Innovate Oregon, originally a strategic initiative of the TAO Foundation. For 15 years he ran a software company whose development teams embraced agile practices. He was on the Board of the TAO and chaired their strategy committee that led the transformation of the organization from its earlier manifestation as the SAO. He led the team from the TAO and PDC that developed a community-based economic development strategy for the software industry. He was a founding board member of the STEM Investment Council and co-authored Oregon's STEM Investment Plan. He is also the co-founder of both TaborSpace and the Rosewood Initiative.</p> **Please RSVP on our Meetup page to reserve your spot: ** https://www.meetup.com/AgilePDX-User-Group-Portland-Metro/events/259111522/ **If you are unable to attend, please update your RSVP to open your seat for another attendee.** <p>While our tech-based companies are struggling to find the talent needed to grow a new creative economy, our schools are still stuck in a 100-year-old model that was designed to produce workers for an industrial age.
