create Calagator::Event 1250460513 PADNUG May Meeting Roll back

description nil Please join us Thursday night for the PADNUG May meet-up! It's a week early, so yes, it is not really in May. Also note again that the meeting is on *Thursday* night. Dan Wahlin will be giving us the low down on jQuery Templates and how you can use them to make your HTML 5 apps even more awesome. WHERE: Intel Ronler Acres RA1 Auditorium 2501 NW 229th Avenue Hillsboro, OR 97124 Map: http://www.bing.com/maps/explore/?org=aj#/fotw1o04svrqm3xg WHEN: Thursday 4/28/2011 6:00 p.m. Pizza 6:30 p.m. Presentation ~8:30 p.m. After Words at On the Border Mexican Grill WHO: Dan Wahlin founded The Wahlin Group (http://www.TheWahlinGroup.com) which specializes in .NET, Silverlight and SharePoint consulting as well as onsite and online training solutions. He has been awarded Microsoft's MVP award for ASP.NET, Connected Systems and Silverlight and is a Microsoft Regional Director. Dan is on the INETA Speaker's Bureau, speaks at conferences and user groups around the world and has written several books on .NET such as Professional Silverlight Development, Professional ASP.NET AJAX, ASP.NET MVP Hacks and Tips and XML for ASP.NET Developers. Dan blogs at http://weblogs.asp.net/dwahlin and writes regular columns for various technical magazines such as DevConnectionsPro and Dr. Dobbs. TOPIC: Using jQuery Templates in HTML 5 Applications It’s no secret that jQuery provides a productive and fun way to build client-centric Web applications, but there’s a new player in town called jQuery Templates that takes jQuery to a whole new level and makes building dynamic HTML 5 applications even easier. In this session, Dan Wahlin will discuss how to use jQuery Templates and show how they can be used to significantly reduce the amount of JavaScript code that has to be written (and make your apps more maintainable in the process). In this session you’ll learn about template tokens, how to handle conditionals and loops, and how templates can be dynamically downloaded and rendered. Thanks to our Premium Sponsors that make these meetings possible: azad - http://www.azad.com Infragistics - http://www.infragistics.com Microsoft - http://www.microsoft.com O'Reilly - http://www.oreilly.com Looking forward to seeing you all there! create Calagator::Event 1250459722 CIO Group Coaching Program Roll back

description nil <b>Do you want to add more value by becoming your company’s new revenue engine</b> and engaging customers in innovative ways? Do you need to figure out how to fund transformative projects and be your CEO’s most powerful ally? The CIO Coaching Program will guide and support you as a leader to achieve these goals and bring about revenue growth for your company, as a direct result of your contributions. <b>How It Works</b> 1. Pick a game-changing project – for the IT department or the entire company 2. Work on it intensively for six months with structured support, making huge strides 3. Receive and give coaching among other CIOs from comparable organizations 4. Be pushed out of the comfort zone and into the growth zone, by highly qualified coaches <b>Agenda</b> The SPTLI format involves 12 three-hour group-coaching sessions over a six-month period, meeting bi-weekly. There will also be 30 minute, one-on-one coaching phone calls in the weeks between sessions. <b>Sessions:</b> 1. Introduction to the Process, and Identify each CIO’s Project 2. Refine the Project and Get Feedback 3. Finalize Project and Create Action Plan 4. Metrics and Performance Management 5. Uncover Blind Spots, Receive Coaching, Advance the Project 6. How a CIO can Coach Direct Reports, Advance the Project, Trouble Shoot 7. More on CIO as Coach, Advanced Delegation Skills, Advance the Project 8. At least one CIO has a major setback by now; we all use it as a learning tool as we get that CIO back on track – everyone learns from this experience; remaining sessions are highly customized to what emerges in the group 9. From Breakdown to Breakthrough – using the setback to illuminate problems and create growth 10. Begin to wrap up the project, Delegation trouble-shooting, Empowered work teams 11. Further wrap-up and trouble shooting 12. Celebration and planning for how to keep up the momentum As the CIO, you will be asked to bring in a challenge – some burning need, chronic problem or stalled initiative that, if improved, would break you and your company out to the next level. In the group sessions, you will receive frank, powerful coaching from our facilitators – a former CEO, a CIO and a highly experienced business coach. You will also get feedback and support from your peers in the room and guest CIO’s who will participate in some of the sessions. You make commitments for keeping your project on track every week and report on results at each session.

update Calagator::Event 1250459713 Matt Nees from SAO - Agile PDX monthly meeting Roll back

description To Be Decided This event is free and is at our new location, Puppet Labs. It begins at 6:30 pm with pizza, sponsored by PNSQC (Many thanks to both Puppet Labs and PNSQC for supporting agile in Portland). The program starts at 7:00 pm. After the program you're invited to join us for a no-host gathering at a nearby brewpub for further discussion. Being a ScrumMaster is not a role for the faint of heart. Effective ScrumMasters use a combination of natural talent, common sense, insight, observation technique, and--well, let's admit it, luck to help teams sustainably use Scrum to reliably deliver business value. But the standard two-day training course doesn't fully prepare us for what lies ahead. In this talk, subtitled, "What I Wish I Knew Before I Became a ScrumMaster," experienced and newer ScrumMasters(or anyone who wants to help a team succeed and deliver) discover and share non-obvious insights into what a ScrumMaster can do to help their teams grow into great teams -- and learn a valuable technique. description nil When written well, use cases can effectively convey subtle user-system interactions. This hands-on workshop shows you how to “lighten up” use cases, write them just-in-time and use them to communicate essential system behaviors. This workshop gives you the hands-on experience and builds the skills you will require to effectively write use cases for an agile environment. <b>In this hands-on workshop you will learn:</b> * How to effectively write use cases for agile development * How to “tune” written descriptions to meet project specific needs * How to break a use case into user stories and incrementally track their implementation * Agile usability techniques—personas, Wizard of OZ prototyping * Incremental writing—adding details when they matter * How to write acceptance tests for use cases * To relate use cases to features, business policies, and UI prototypes This workshop benefits User Experience Designers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and Developers who will learn how to quickly write usage descriptions and integrate them with user prototypes and mock-ups. This workshop also benefits Business Analysts who still need to write requirements but want to “lighten” them up. Developers will benefit from knowing when to ask for usage descriptions and how to review them for “miracle” system powers.
