create Calagator::Event 1250471060 Emotional Intelligence in Design Roll back

description nil Data and good intentions are no longer enough in a world where the lines are increasingly blurred between online and offline experiences. People need products that support the broad spectrum of human experience. By practicing awareness we can create designs that help people do what they need to do, even when life is hard.
Our Presenter, Beth Dean
Beth is an illustrator and designer in San Francisco. She currently works at Facebook on transparency in advertising and dabbles in LGBTQ policy advocacy. When she’s not drawing or at a computer she can be found on a mountain peak. She’s led design and product for analytics and news startups, and worked with big brands like Hotwire, Progressive Insurance and American Greetings. In addition to her own books, her comics have been featured in SPIN, various anthologies, and galleries around the country. She’s spoken around the world about emotional intelligence in design, and queer identity in comics, at places like: San Diego Comic-Con, Stumptown Comics Fest, Alternative Press Expo, From the Front, Industry, and more. She’s been interviewed on NPR’s Marketplace, and recently served as a White House LGBTQ Tech Innovation Fellow. Follow Beth on Twitter and at her personal site.

description nil "Beer of Trust" is a key signing party with beer! ## What's a key-signing party? A key-signing party is a get-together with PGP users for the purpose of meeting other PGP users and signing each other's keys. This helps to extend the "web of trust" to a great degree. Also, it sometimes serves as a forum to discuss strong cryptography and related issues. We'll start signing at 6:30pm after we've settled in with some beers. This will be run more along the lines of an [informal key signing party](http://cryptnet.net/fdp/crypto/keysigning_party/en/keysigning_party.html#traditional). ## What do I need for this party? Required Items: * A picture ID * Your key ID, key type, hex fingerprint, and key size * A pen/pencil or whatever you'd like to write with * A computer is not required, and it is not recommended to use your computer to sign keys at the event Some useful links for generating and backing up your key can be found [here](http://pin13.net/2016-11-07-key-signing-party/).

update Calagator::Event 1250471056 On Building Great Products from Startup to Massive Scale with Peter van Hardenberg Roll back

description Building great products takes a lot of work, but hard work isn't enough on its own. No matter what you're building, you're going to need a plan for how you'll get there. In this talk, we'll talk about the Heroku Postgres team's working habits as it scaled a 24x7 high-availability product while maintaining close contact with its users over a long period. We'll focus on the specific and practical techniques the team used to plan, organize, and execute its work, and talk about the principles behind them. After a tour of some of these techniques, Heroku Postgres founding member Peter van Hardenberg will answer your questions about scaling from startup to acquisition and massive scale. Speaker Bio:
Peter van Hardenberg was an early team member at Heroku and co-founded Heroku's Department of Data, the team behind Heroku Postgres. Heroku was acquired by Salesforce.com in December 2010 for $212M less than four years after founding. Prior to joining Heroku, he worked as an Arctic oceanographer, game developer, and Shakespearean scholar. He lives in San Francisco and, among other things, advises high-growth software companies like Zapproved and Auth0.

REGISTER

Building great products takes a lot of work, but hard work isn't enough on its own.
