Passionate About Growing Your Tech Company in the Silicon Forest? Join us for a Spring celebration!
Our region’s tech scene has its own identity, proving itself capable of supporting vibrant tech companies, raising real venture capital and asserting its place in today’s economy. It has a history of innovation with some of the large established companies that attracted tech talent in the first place, which has given way to emerging tech startups.
This event will celebrate the tech industry represented in the Beaverton and Hillsboro area!
Whether you’re a tech company that helped to plant Silicon Forest’s first seeds, one that has relocated or is establishing new roots by opening an office here, or an emerging tech startup, join us for a summer social to meet tech companies that are choosing to move here and learn why. Connect with the resources available to tech companies here in Oregon. Let’s continue to support, engage and grow our tech community, and have some fun!
Join us on Tuesday, May 22nd to meet new tech in town and hear from valuable resources to get you settled. |

CTRL-H - PDX Hackerspace - Open Hack Night!
Roll back

<p>Every Second Friday is Open Hack Night here at ^H. Come hangout with us at the most happening (and productive) place in town! Hackerspace activities encompass Hardware, Software, Crafting/Textiles, all the Realities (Real, Virtual and Augmented), Infosec, Audio/Video, Cryptocurrencies, Gaming, you name it - if it's technology then it's in scope. Our Hackerspace is a place where people with an interest in computing or technology can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge. There is plenty of table space, bandwidth and 3D printers (for those looking to try that out). Bring your ideas, works in progress, or something to show off. We'll see you there!</p> |

The IndieWeb movement is a global community that is building an open set of principles and methods that empower people to take back ownership of identity and data instead of sharecropping on 3rd party websites.
Join us in downtown Portland for two days of a BarCamp-style gathering of web creators building and sharing open web technologies to empower users to own their own identities & content, and advance the state of the indie web!
You’ll learn about ways to empower yourself to own your data, create and publish content on your own site, and only optionally syndicate to third-party silos. Along the way you’ll get a solid grounding in the history and future of domain ownership, Microformats, IndieAuth, Webmention, Micropub and more! |

We plan to cover many beneficial topics:
• Morning preparation, attire, mindset
• Preparation for the non-technical parts
• How to study for the coding interview
• How to execute the coding test
Due to the level of interaction required, attendance will be capped at 20. Never fear: we will be organizing this same event bi-monthly because we want everyone to have access to this session!

Interviewing for a new job can be a stressful proposition. It is hard to know what to expect and even how to prepare for it. Each company evaluates its candidates differently. Luckily, some upfront investment and preparation can really go a long way in helping you distinguish yourself from the rest of the candidates. In this seminar led by an engineering leader at Elemental, we will cover some common interviewing practices for technical interviews and what you may be able to do to get ready.
Agenda:

Purpose:
PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.
Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our purpose are welcome. |
