create Calagator::Event 1250473760 Mentorship Webinar Roll back

description nil Join us during lunch on May 31st as we bring local expert, Karen Howells to share what works and what doesn't when developing a mentorship or coaching program within an organization. Robert Mansell of Catalyte will also spend time sharing his company experience in driving a program internally and ways to make it scalable, regardless of organization size and structure. This session will start off with a review of best practices for mentoring within organizations. Attendees will walk away with a framework they can use back at their companies - for technical teams and across all business units. The main challenge in implementing amentorship program is often around the program management and putting together successful mentor\mentee duos. Our experts willshare their lessons learned, selected to help you succeed in supporting employee development and engagement through an efficient and effective mentor program. As tech companies grow, it is too often the case that the rising stars that are promoted and elevatedwithout the development and coaching that they need in order to be successful with their new responsibilities. As employees transition to managers, it’s vital to give them the tools to succeed in their new role of supervisor. Questions to be answered during this session: -How do I elevate and create opportunities for my employees without losing them to another company? -What is a low resource program that can be introduced in my dept / at my company (in a short amount of time)? -How do I encourage a mentor mindset (across companies) in such a competitive talent environment?

description nil _Note: Register here for the pizza and pop headcount, please: https://www.meetup.com/AgilePDX-User-Group-Portland-Metro/events/250826458/_ Agile methods such as Scrum and eXtreme Programming have been effective for single-team companies, but guidance and experience about how to scale them has been mixed. In this session, Michael James examines patterns seen in dozens of organizations and whether or not they have been effective. Michael James's Bio: I help businesses learn to develop software effectively, without the usual pain and anxiety. I train you and your employees through fun group activities (and little or no PowerPoint), then facilitate small and large group discussions to resolve organizational impediments. My work is quoted in several bestselling Agile books, my articles have been translated by enthusiastic volunteers into Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Portuguese, and Vietnamese. Thousands of people use my animated e-learning modules each day. Fun fact: I have 100+ recommendations from Clients on my LinkedIn profile.

update Calagator::Event 1250473728 OWASP Chapter Meeting - Pen Testing: How to Get Bigger Bang for your Buck Roll back

description Panel Discussion - Join local industry practitioners as they discuss the best practices used in getting superior results from your Pen Testing. Also share your ideas on Dos and Dont's of Pen testing. <p>Moderator - Brian Ventura </p> <p>Alexei Kojenov is a Senior Application Security Consultant with years of prior software development experience. During his career with IBM, he gradually moved from writing code to breaking code. Since late 2016, Alexei has been working as a consultant at Aspect Security, helping businesses identify and fix vulnerabilities and design secure applications. Aspect Security was recently acquired by Ernst&Young and joined EY Advisory cybersecurity practice. </p> <p> Ian Melven is Principal Security Engineer at New Relic. He has worked in security for almost 20 years, including roles at Mozilla, Adobe, McAfee and @stake. </p> <p> Benny Zhao is a Security Engineer at Jive Software. His experience focuses on identifying code vulnerabilities and securing software by building tools to help automate security testing. </p> <p> Scott Cutler has been interested in computer security since he was a kid, and started attending DefCon in 2004. He got his Computer Science degree from UC Irvine in 2009 while working for the on-campus residential network department for 4 years. After graduating he worked first as QA for a SAN NIC card manufacturer, then switched to essentially create their DevOps program from scratch. From these jobs he has gained a lot of experience with networking, build processes, Linux/Unix administration and scripting, and Python development. In 2012 Scott began working in the security field full time as a FIPS, Common Criteria, and PCI Open Protocol evaluator for InfoGard Laboratories (now UL Transaction Security). During this time he got his OSCP and a good understanding of federal security requirements, assessment processes, and documentation (ask him about NIST SPs!). In 2015 scott switched over to Aspect Security (now EY) to put his OSCP to good use and became a full-time application security engineer, doing pen-tests as well as developing both internal and external training.</p> Panel Discussion - Join local industry practitioners as they discuss the best practices used in getting superior results from your Pen Testing.
