create Calagator::Event 1250474015 Real Time Databases Roll back

description nil Modern business is fluid.  Critical business events must be responded to when they occur.  Delays mean lost opportunities and sub-optimal outcomes.  Modern analytics must be as agile as the business itself. The days of looking at your data in the rear-view mirror are coming to an end.  We are at the dawn of a new analytic revolution:  the real-time database.   Millisecond latency is the new analytic performance standard.  A new class of GPU-accelerated databases enable this level of performance.  GPU-accelerated databases are over 100x more performant than even the “fastest” in-memory data stores.  GPU-accelerated databases can provide extreme levels of scalability without negative performance impacts.  They are also easy to implement; thanks to their use of ANSI-standard SQL and hybrid visualization capabilities.  This makes them particularly attractive for some of the most demanding analytic tasks; like scoring of predictive models, and geospatial visualizations. Join Amit Vij from Kinetica to learn how GPU-accelerated databases can enable real-time businesses.

Speaker Amit is President and Co-Founder of Kinetica. Amit is responsible for the vision and strategic decisions for the company. Having a background in computer engineering, he has over a decade of software development experience in the commercial and federal space, with an emphasis in analyzing and visualizing big data, and helped architect Kinetica. In this seminar guided by an engineering leader at Elemental, we will cover some common interviewing practices for technical interviews and what you may be able to do to get ready. We plan to cover many beneficial topics: • Morning preparation, attire, mindset • Preparation for the non-technical parts • How to study for the coding interview • How to execute the coding test Due to the level of interaction required, attendance will be capped at 40. Never fear: we will be organizing this same event bi-monthly because we want everyone to have access to this session! Agenda: 5:30 p.m. Doors open 5:45 p.m. Introduction 6:00 p.m. Session begins 7:00 p.m. Session ends Event FAQ: Q: Will there be gender neutral restrooms? A: Yes Q: Is the space ADA accessible? Q: Is there secured bike parking? A: No secured bike parking available at this event. Q: Should I consider using public transportation? A: Yes, taking public transportation to this event is recommended. The event is conveniently located near MAX and bus lines. Purpose: PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women. Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our purpose are welcome.

description nil <p>Part hackathon, part geek social, these biweekly meetings are a time for you to come join others for insight, inspiration or just insanity.</p> <p>Bring your toys for others to see, or come see what others have been painstakingly chipping away at in their spare time.</p> <p>Whether it's code or chips, hacking of all sorts is encouraged. But we also like to hear your crazy ideas, so please come join us and bring your willingness to share your brilliance.</p> <p>We'll be the kids with all the coolest stuff on the table. Hope to see you there.</p> <p>p.s. This event is open to everyone, dork or robot. No ^H membership is required to attend.</p>

description nil <p>Thursdays are open house night here at CTRL-H. Jon and Melinda are available during this time to give guided tours, answer questions and show you all that the hackerspace has to offer.</p> <p>We don't have an opening ceremony or any formal meeting. This is a time for you to eavesdrop on other peoples projects and get support on a project that you may need help with. Bring your laptop, projects, inventions, your technical toys and your broken microwave to CTRL-H and hack with friends.</p>
