description nil <p>Hey everybody. Got a bug you just can't land? Is there a recent CVE you've been eyeballing seductively? Just want to brush up on your APPSEC or OPSEC? Do none of the above questions make any sense, but you're interested in computer security?</p> <p>PDX Exploit Workshop is the longest running security meetup in Portland (10 years!). It's an open, self driven event for people interested in computer security. Whether you're a novice or career professional, all are welcome. It's always a good time to learn about security!</p> <p>We spend this dedicated time each week researching and exploring topics of software and hardware security as well as working on personal and group projects. Occasionally we have presentations on our findings. Bring a willingness to learn, a curiosity about security, and/or a specific area of interest to share with others.</p> <p>This group meets in the PDX Hackerspace mainspace which has comfy seating, deluxe wifi (thanks Kyle!), Club Mate soda in the snack shack, and hackable LED displays to play around with.</p> <p>p.s. This event is open to everyone! No ^H membership is required to attend. All are welcome. That means you!</p>

description nil <p>Every Second Friday is Open Hack Night here at ^H. Come hangout with us at the most happening (and productive) place in town! Our Hackerspace is a place where people with an interest in computing or technology can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment, and knowledge. There is plenty of table space, bandwidth and 3D printers (for those looking to try that out). Bring your ideas, works in progress, or something to show off. We'll see you there!</p>

update Calagator::Event 1250475814 AgilePDX User Group - Portland Metro - Lean Coffee in the North Roll back

description **Please RSVP on our Meetup page to reserve your spot: ** https://www.meetup.com/AgilePDX-User-Group-Portland-Metro/events/262235120/**If you are unable to attend, please update your RSVP to open your seat for another attendee.** <p>Join us for coffee/tea or beverage of your choice and fun discussions about how to overcome challenges we face or to share about Agile-inspired and other topics we agree or disagree with. This event is aimed at getting people in the North and NE areas of Portland and Vancouver together to facilitate discussions. It's not exclusive to people that live in the North and NE, just closer to those parts of the city to make it easier to come out.</p> <p>We'll spend the first few minutes gathering discussion ideas, then roll right into the smooth easy cadence of the lively chatter.</p> <p>If you aren't going to be able to make it, please update your RSVP so that we know how many to expect.</p> <p>Parking:<br>Use the Gotham Building Parking lot on the corner of N Page St and N Borthwick Ave.</p> <p>Building Entry:<br>Entry to the building is best through the door by Little Gotham Coffee. We'll have someone meeting on time attendees at the door. For those that run a few minutes late due to traffic or other reasons out of your control, there will be directions at the door on how to contact someone to let you in.</p> <p>Weather Policy:<br>Cancellations will be posted on MeetUp and Calagater 3 hours before event time. We will not have the event in ice, or snowy conditions.</p> <p>Percipio Consulting Group is opening up their offices to host this event.</p> <p>Percipio is a business consulting firm that helps companies identify opportunities for improvement and successfully implement meaningful changes. That means more efficient processes, shored-up controls, a technology solution that really works for you, or all of the above. They have helped many companies, both Fortune 500 and mid-sized, navigate complex projects by truly understanding business needs and defining up front what success will look like.</p> <p>Events are made possible by the AgilePDX community and our sponsors, including platinum sponsor ProFocus Technology: https://www.profocustechnology.com/). Learn more about our sponsors at https://agilepdx.org/sponsorship.</p> <p>New to Lean Coffee?</p> <p>It's a great way to have real, focused dialogue and we often discuss matters of agile, lean and such - but anything goes. As far as the mechanics, here's the format we'll follow:</p> <p>Step 1: Everybody writes down proposed topics on stickies, placing them in the center of the table. Take as much time as needed, but typically takes only 3-5 minutes (or whenever coffee is ready).</p> <p>Step 2: Each topic is briefly described by its writer to get a flavor for the subject (15-30 seconds typically per sticky).</p> <p>Step 3: Each person gets five votes which they indicate by marking the voted-for sticky with their Sharpie. Mark with a plus + if you agree with the topic and want to discuss it, or a minus - if you disagree and want to discuss it, mark it with a dot if you want to hear the discussion and maybe join in. You can put all votes on one, one across many, however you feel. Each mark counts as one vote.</p> <p>Step 4: The top vote-getting stickies are placed in the ToDo column, ordered by the stickies with the most votes at the top. In an Agile fashion, we'll use groupings of ToDo, Doing, Done and Lessons learned.</p> <p>Step 5: Each of these stickies are discussed for 5 minutes, most votes first. The facilitator takes a quick "Cesar" (thumbs up/down) vote at the five-minute timer, and she moves on for three more minutes if the discussion still has majority interest. When complete, move the sticky over to the Done column. Rinse and repeat.</p> <p>Step 6: wrap-up thoughts at the end - what one idea or person did you most enjoy, then break for home/drinks/cover.</p> **Please RSVP on our Meetup page to reserve your spot: ** https://www.meetup.com/AgilePDX-User-Group-Portland-Metro/events/262235120/** If you are unable to attend, please update your RSVP to open your seat for another attendee.** <p>Join us for coffee/tea or beverage of your choice and fun discussions about how to overcome challenges we face or to share about Agile-inspired and other topics we agree or disagree with. Rinse and repeat.</p> <p>Step 6: wrap-up thoughts at the end - what one idea or person did you most enjoy, then break for home/drinks/cover.</p>

update Calagator::Event 1250475811 PDXWIT Presents: West Side Mixer Roll back

description ***Registration through Eventbrite [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdxwit-presents-west-side-mixer-tickets-64393355259] is required to gain entry to this event *** Many of us live and/or work on the west side of the metro area but may not have a convenient professional community nearby. Thanks to PDXWIT and DAT’s support, we can get together to talk tech and other work topics. The event will be primarily networking focused, but we will have a couple guest speakers: A representative from DAT will share information about the company, including any opportunities that are available. Guest speaker, Jenessa Stieglitz, Product Owner at Nike, will talk about Shine Theory: a practice of mutual investment with the simple premise that "I don't shine if you don't shine." It's a term to describe a commitment to collaborating with rather than competing against other people—especially other women. We will also have a job seekers section where attendees can learn about the various employment opportunities available right now. Agenda: 5 pm - Doors open 5:45 p.m. - Introductions and Presentation 6:15 p.m. - More networking 7 p.m. - Event ends Event FAQ Q: Will there be gender neutral restrooms? A: We have a gender-neutral restroom in our lobby and gendered restrooms closer to the space we'll be using for the event. Q: Is the space ADA accessible? A: Yes. Q: Will there be food and drink at this event? A: Yes. Q: What is the parking situation? A: We have onsite parking. Q: Is there any special information that might help me find the entrance? A: We will be using our main entrance (corner of Hall & Nimbus); the other doors to the building are controlled access. Q: Is there secured bike parking? A: We have bicycle lockers in the rear of the building (users will need to bring their own lock). Q: Should I consider using public transportation? A: Our office is .3 miles (5 minute walk) from the Hall/Nimbus WES station, and serviced by the 76 & 78 TriMet bus routes. It's an option! Q: Can I bring my dog? A: No, we ask that you leave your furry friend home. No pets (only service animals). Purpose: PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women. Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our purpose are welcome. ***Registration through Eventbrite [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdxwit-presents-west-side-mixer-tickets-64393355259] is required to gain entry to this event *** Many of us live and/or work on the west side of the metro area but may not have a convenient professional community nearby. description nil Details Come join us for Pythonic talks! This month: * Writing a web-based Python debugger by Bernard Sanders Debuggers can be tricky to use for new developers. Could we lower the barrier to entry by providing a more graphical debugger in a web UI? In this talk, I'll show the first version of the WUI debugger I added to my company's product, discuss how I built it, and some of the interesting things I learned on the way. Bernard is co-founder and CTO of CloudBolt software, which produces the leading hybrid cloud management platform. Bernard crafts the vision for the CloudBolt product and is an advocate for shared DevOps practices and enablement of hybrid cloud. Prior to CloudBolt, he worked on automating operations for more than 75 enterprise IT shops over 18 years in myriad roles at JPL, Loudcloud, Opsware, and HP. He holds patents for bare metal provisioning, Cloud Resource Orchestration, and Self-Service IT Catalog. Bernard lives in Portland, OR where he enjoys cross country skiing, being a Big Brother in BBBS, and volunteering with Puzzled Pint. Big thanks to our Pizza Sponsor this month, O'Reilly Media. We're proud to partner with #OSCON in Portland, July 15-18. Save 25% when you use code USRG on most passes https://oreil.ly/2U5aK4j Join us afterward at Bailey's Upper Lip at 720 SW Ankeny to continue the discussion over a beverage. An even bigger question…. Will you be in PDX for OSCON and want to come have a good time? Puppet is hosting a Science Fair party in our Portland home office the evening of July 17, 2019. Come have a drink and poke at some new toys; see what fun projects people are working on. We’ve got an Internet-enabled train layout, and will let you control the office Spotify playlist with Bolt, our orchestration tool. What does all this even mean? Come hang out and see! We'll have a few stations set up for you to explore and get your hands dirty with our Open Source projects. We'll have people sharing their own home DIY projects. And we'll have table spots for community members to showcase their own projects. Do you have something shiny to share? Maybe most importantly, finger food, beer, and non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided. Come chill with us. We'd love to see you and hear what exciting things you've got going on. [Let us know if you plan to come](https://pup.pt/sciencefair) so we can make sure to have plenty of food on hand.
