description nil Take a look at the link for more details - feel free to come and see what were doing. We'll probably have a short General DIYBio meeting before and then make the cells. Sadly we probably only have enough materials for our meetup group, but anyone is more than welcome to come. Also, were looking for a way to stream data from the cells online such as voltage generated and CO2 levels. If anyone has any interest in lending a hand that would be awesome!

update Calagator::Event 1250464050 PJUG - Portland Java Users Group Roll back

description Java at Scale: What Works and What Doesn't Work Nearly So Well Java gets used everywhere and for everything, a reality that can be explained by its efficiency, its portability, the productivity it offers developers, and the platform it provides for application frameworks and non-Java languages. But all is not perfect; developers struggle against Java's greatest strength: its memory management. We'll talk about where Java needs help, the challenges it presents developers who need to provide reliable performance, the reasons those challenges exist, and how developers work around them. And we'll take a little time to talk about Azul Systems, its history of tackling Java scale issues and how it addresses the mismatch between Java and big data. create Calagator::Event 1250464054 Celebration of Life for Igal Koshevoy Roll back

description nil Igal was a volunteer and core contributor for a large number of projects and groups in the Portland tech scene. He helped create Calagator, our community calendar, and became one of its core maintainers. He coordinated a number of user groups for several years, including pdxruby, pdxfunc, and pdxdevops. He was one of the founding committee members for Open Source Bridge, spending long nights to develop our OpenConferenceWare software in time to launch the conference. He hosted some of the most enlightening and entertaining BarCamp Portland and WhereCampPDX sessions on topics like Trains!, Strange Maps, Things that Hover, and more. He was also a skilled photographer and friend to all cats. We have set up koshevoy.net to help our community celebrate Igal’s life. Please share memories, photos or words of remembrance, and read what others have shared. We have also created a Facebook page, and on Twitter we request that you use the hashtag #igalko or his twitter handle @igalko.
