description nil The topic this month is Source Code Control. Steve Riggins will talk about git, Simran Gleason will talk about Subversion, and if he's available Dave Camp will talk about Mercurial. The idea is not to compare and contrast the options but merely to have someone who is a fan of each tell us the good, bad and ugly about their chosen SCC method. Assuming the iPhone Learning project is over at this point (it could get delayed again if summer slows people down), we'll return to having an open Q&A session after the meeting, followed by/continued over beer.

description nil Lion will be shipping sometime in July, so by the time this meeting rolls around most of us will already have it. Steve Riggins will give a presentation on what we need to know about Lion, both as users and developers. Afterwards we'll do the sixth (and final!) month of iPhone Learning, and head for beer.

description Rather than posting content on many third-party silos of data, we should all begin owning our own data that we're creating. Publish short status updates on your own domain, and syndicate to Twitter. Publish photos on your own domain, syndicate to Flickr, etc, etc. This is the basis of the "Indie Web" movement. We'll get together for a day and a half to talk about what has been done in the field, and where still needs to be done. There will be workshops and breakout sessions the second day. description Have beer with geeks. Well-mannered dogs welcomed on patio. Inviting IndieWebCamp.com folks to come along as well for a pre-weekend meet and greet. (and if you're an indie web builder/sharer, check out and sign-up for IndieWebCamp this weekend June 25-26) Have beer with geeks. Well-mannered dogs welcomed on patio. Beer and Blog is on a roll with top-notch sponsors this year! We’re thrilled to announce that our latest high-profile sponsor is, drumroll please… Groupon! Yes, in addition to giving you steep discounts at cool local businesses, the daily deals giant wants to buy you a beer. And it all happens this Friday, June 24. Former Beer and Blog captain Kerry Finsand will represent on behalf of Groupon Portland, so make sure to say hi and congratulate him on his new marketing role (where he gets to do this kind of thing all the time, maybe even at a future Beer and Blog? Hint, hint…). In addition to providing beer for all attendees, one very lucky person will win a $100 Groupon gift certificate! You must be present to win. As always, your free pint or beverage of choice is first come first served. We’ll see you this Friday from 4-6pm at the Green Dragon! Inviting IndieWebCamp.com folks to come along as well for a pre-weekend meet and greet. description nil Want to practice your startup pitch in front of people who've done it before? Crave the harsh criticism of your peers? Need the validation of seeing what works and what doesn't in other pitches? Bring your 3 minute pitch. Put your name in a hat and if it gets picked, you're on. Powerpoints discouraged - just pitch. Then, answer questions and listen to painfully honest feedback from a panel of so-called experts. The first rule of Pitch Club is you HAVE TO PITCH. The second rule of Pitch Club is you HAVE TO PITCH. It doesn't have to be your startup - pitch your blog, your ideas for turning cat feces into gold, or your plan for world domination. More rules as we think of them. FAQ: Q: Who are these so-called experts and what are they going to do to me? A: Your pitch will be evaluated by entrepreneurs and people who pitch for a living. They are your superiors. Q: What about NDAs? Someone's going to steal my idea! A: There are no NDAs - use your best judgment about what to talk about and what not to. Also, remember the first rule of fight club - don't talk about fight club. We're all on the honor system here. Q: My pitch is more than 3 minutes - can I have more time? A: No. Q: Will it be catered? A: Hell no. You know what's in the lobster bisque. Q: Can anyone critique a pitch? A: No, only the panel.
