Ever wonder what the hiring manager on the other side of the table, phone screening, or video interview is thinking? This is your chance to ask a panel of hiring managers and tech recruiters ANY job search-related question. This is a safe space with no judgement. No question is off limits! Should I state my desired salary? Is it too soon to send another follow up email? What do I do if I don’t know the answer? What are the most common mistakes candidates make? We’ll kick off the event with a few questions to get the conversation rolling, then it's open to anyone in the audience to ask a question. Come ask the experts who have seen it all!

Purpose:
PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.

Join us for happy hour at Squarespace on April 17th.
Do you want to amplify your voice? We do too, so we are dedicating this event to being heard, which can be accomplished in a number of ways. To facilitate the conversation, the topic of the night is “how do you inject your voice into the workplace?”
While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short segment at 5:30 to share important announcements and showcase three women in our community.
Introduction to Squarespace, including what they do and what job opportunities are available.
Meg Aul, CRM Analyst and Salesforce Administrator at Viewpoint, will talk about asking for what you want at work and what to do when the answer isn't 'Yes'
Tiffany Longworth, Site Reliability Engineer at Puppet, will talk about tactical and whimsical ways to leverage fun to get work done.
During the event, we’ll have more to do than free-form networking:
An Activity Table where people can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups are not your thing. If you have trouble finding it, look for Meg Aul, our Event Activities Director.

Join us for happy hour at Squarespace! Since we are solidly into spring, many of us are thinking of ways to clean our lives and re-emerge from the rain with new energy. At this event, the theme will be “Empowering you” and the conversation starter will be “What one person or thing has helped you feel more empowered lately?”
While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short segment at 5:30 with the goal of sharing important announcements and showcasing women in our community who are doing great things.
Introduction to Squarespace; be sure to sign up for an information interview during the event using this form.
Brook Shelley, Sr. Developer Relations Engineer at Turbine Labs, will talk to us about salary, capitalism and owning your career.
Rose Medlock, Manager of Instructional Services at Credo Education, will tell us how to be more present when working remote.
