    5th Annual PDX TechCrawl

Eat, drink and tech talk your way through Portland tech offices during the 5th Annual TechCrawl

Last year over 1,500 people joined this event.

    HOW IT WORKS:

Step 1) Get to the Starting Location @ 5pm. WeWork Building: 220 NW 8th AvePortland, OR 97209

You must arrive at the starting point location between 5:00 and 5:45 where you will be given your map and wristband for the TechCrawl.

    Step 2) Kick-off and Crawl @ 5:30pm:

Kick-off announcements at the starting location will take place from 5:30 - 5:45.

Then keeping it weird Portland style, the TechCrawl is more of a free for all walking open house tour (but TechCrawl sounds so much better...). You will receive a map when you check in at the WeWork building. Use that to pick which offices you would like to visit. Have fun crawling and networking your way through the PDX tech offices.

pdxrlang meetup: Chester Ismay - Creating and using templates in R Markdown

Speaker: Chester Ismay (https://github.com/ismayc) - Instructional Technologist/Statistical Consultant at Reed College

Abstract: One of the great recent additions from RStudio is the ability to create templates in R Markdown that allows R users to customize output to a variety of document formats while only needing to write in Markdown. You can create templates for outputting Word documents, HTML documents, and PDF documents all including R code and its output. I’ll discuss how to go about creating templates, demonstrate an R Markdown senior thesis template I created for Reed College seniors that interfaces with the traditional LaTeX thesis template, and hopefully provide you with an opportunity to write a template of your own during this meeting.
