Speech Recognition Systems
Portland Community Church

Join us as Nick Williams gives an overview of how speech-recognition systems are created and how they work.

Nick is originally from Florida, with a BA and MA in linguistics. He works for the speech-recognition software company Sensory as a linguistic technologist. This will be a "non-technical overview" with lots of moving parts.

In the first 30 minutes, we'll have the presentation. The second 30 minutes we'll spend with Q&A and networking.

Be inspired! Knowledge Mavens

Learning to code can be a daunting journey, and everyone seems to have a different approach. For our first meeting we'll discuss the various methods that have worked in the past for learning. We'll share resources, tips, and experiences and have an open discussion about tech education.

This meeting is not an intro to programming, but instead a discussion surrounding methods of learning from a variety of backgrounds.

Panel:

-Tracy Abrahms, engineer @ Urban Airship

-Carl Hall, engineer @ Cloudability

-Flora Worley, engineer @ Quick Left
