Description
The Applied Research & Technology Series (ARTS) is pleased to announce the second of three presentations on MIDI. In December 2012 ARTS explored MIDI-based applications and concepts such as controlled drum synthesis, sequencing, and sampling.
Tom Moxon, an experienced MIDI instrument design engineer, will explore MIDI protocol design and development history, technical operation, and MIDI master/slave relationships. Tom Moxon will share his personal design and development experience creating commercial MIDI instrument products.
Participation: Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite electronic music tracks and discuss what makes them great. Questions and ideas should be directed to the meeting organizer.
Light refreshments will be served. Free parking at OHSU on Saturdays. The venue is served by TriMet. Plan your trip at trimet.org. UHS8B60 is located one floor down from the main OHSU lobby. Sound system with 3.5mm stereo mixing inputs will be provided.
Note: If you want to present video content, please contact the meeting organizer at least one week in advance of the presentation. Attendance is free and open to all ages. Preregistration is appreciated. Participation: Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite electronically synthesized music tracks and participate in shared listening experiences before and after the main speaker's presentation. Knowledge of how the tracks were created could be an interesting complement. Web/Youtube access should be available at the meeting. Questions, ideas can be directed to meeting organizer.
