PDX Women in Tech (PDXWIT) October Happy Hour

    Autodesk

Registration through Eventbrite [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdx-women-in-tech-pdxwit-october-happy-hour-tickets-50234060427] is required to gain entry to this event

Join us for Happy Hour at Autodesk on October 23rd.

We all know that the professional world can have its challenges. The good news is that the challenges we face at work can often support our growth and development. This month we are reflecting on personal growth from professional challenges. To facilitate this discussion our conversation starter will be: How have you grown from a past or current professional challenge?

While the event is primarily intended for networking, we will have a short segment at 5:30 to share important announcements and showcase three women in our community.

An employee of Autodesk will provide an introduction to the company and share open job opportunities.

Melanie Rickmann, of Grey Ghost Studio, will tell us how to Use Adversity to Fuel Your Career

Zhou Fang, Advisor, will talk about Navigating biases and coming out on top

During the event, we’ll have more to do than free-form networking:

An Activity Table where people can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups are not your thing. If you have trouble finding it, look for Meg Aul, our Event Activities Director.

Table Topics to help break the ice.

A section for job seekers and our sponsors who are hiring, to ensure people get connected.

    Agenda:

    4:30 p.m. - Doors open/Networking

    5:30 p.m. - Introductions, Announcements + Lightning Speakers

    6:30 p.m. - Event ends

    Event FAQ:

Q: Will there be gender neutral restrooms? A: Anyone is free to use any restroom that they are comfortable using. We do have gender neutral restrooms located on the 5th floor that guests are welcome to use. They would need to be accompanied by an Autodesk employee as they are not located in a public space.

Q: Is the space ADA accessible? A: Yes

Q: Will there be food and drink at this event? A: Yes. We will provide light appetizers, beer, wine and soft drinks. We will provide vegan and GF options.

Q: What is the parking situation? A: We do not have onsite parking.

Q: Is there any special information that might help me find the entrance? A: All guests must enter and exit through our front door located between 2nd and 3rd on Ankeny. All guests will need to sign in at the front desk and sign an NDA.

Q: Is there secured bike parking? A: Yes, we can provide bike parking.

Q: Should I consider using public transportation? A: YES! There is a street car and bus line stop very close to our office.

Q: Can I bring my dog? A: No, we ask that you leave your furry friend home.

    Purpose:

PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.

Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our purpose are welcome.

First Annual Women in Science Portland Fundraising Gala

    Autodesk

The WIS Fundraising Gala is designed to be a “choose your own adventure” experience. We will have a number of activity stations and fundraising options to choose from, the majority of which will feature female owned and operated businesses.

We are most excited about our silent auction for the St. Mary’s Art Club series depicting famous Women in Science! Students from the St. Mary’s Art Club will be attending and showcasing their work at the gala and donating the proceeds of their auction to WIS. We will also have a range of items available via the raffle, grab bag, and silent auction.

Our goal is to raise enough money to cover the costs of our standard yearly programming, including the annual networking Mixer at OMSI, in addition to new Professional Development and Education & Outreach programming that we would like to roll out in 2019.

Early bird tickets are available at a 25% discount. You will receive an additional 10% discount for purchasing 2 or more tickets at one time.
