    PDXWIT #Action A Day Without A Woman - Hike

Please RSVP on Eventbrite - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdxwit-action-a-day-without-a-woman-hike-tickets-32395767613

Join PDXWIT #Action in celebrating International Women’s Day, with A Day Without a Woman. Women and our allies will act together for equity, justice, and the human rights of women through a one day demonstration of economic solidarity. The PDXWIT community’s top national issues are civil rights, women’s health, gender equity, and health care, and we all feel it is critical to take part in observing this day.

“Nature has the power to renew and refresh,” wrote Helen Keller. Let’s celebrate that sentiment and join together and refresh our mind, bodies, and spirits. We will be organizing a hike to Pittock Mansion. This is an easy/moderate hike that totals about five miles and has an elevation gain of about 900ft. We are planning to meet at the Portland Audubon Nature Store (5151 NW Cornell Rd, Portland, OR 97210) at 1:00, and our hike will start at 1:30. In support of A Day Without a Woman, we will be wearing red.

While we are not officially affiliated with the Day Without a Woman, we stand in solidarity with their mission and want to provide a supportive community for women to participate in Portland. You can learn more about the movement here. #daywithoutawoman

    Purpose:

PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.

Trans and non-binary people are always welcome at our events.
