Session-Based Test Management (SBTM) is an approach for directing and measuring exploratory testing. In contrast is free-form exploratory testing, which can appear chaotic to managers and stakeholders. SBTM is designed to provide accountability for exploratory testing, with many aspects or "components" which provide specific data. Some projects may not require all of the components that SBTM offers. "SBT Lite" is a customizable version of SBTM, which uses some, but not all components.
