update Calagator::Event 1250463312 Planning for the Future Roll back

description
We have a lot of work to do. At our current rate of growth, I suspect that every man, woman, and child in Portland will be a group member in 8.6 years. But even if that doesn't occur, we have an excellent opportunity (as Portland's largest tech meetup by about 200%) to continue leading trends this upcoming year. So come one, come all, and partake in the following activities:

Brainstorming about the next few months topics.

Volunteers to head up some SIGs (special interest groups) - some people like beer, some like coffee, there's no reason we can't host both kinds of meetups.

Help craft a style all our own. We have an embarrassment of riches where talented designers and brilliant programmers are concerned... it's kind of weird we don't have a website full of useful resources and showcasing our collective talents.

Should we reach out to other local groups? What about hosting a small web & design conference in Portland?

Any other excellent ideas

Sorry for the short notice, but please come if you can make it. We need you there!

We have a lot of work to do. At our current rate of growth, I suspect that every man, woman, and child in Portland will be a group member in 8.6 years. update Calagator::Event 1250463285 CHIFOO 2013 Speaker Series Presents: Achieving Kick Ass Innovation—Graphical tools for Quantifying and Accelerating Product Development Roll back

description The prevailing view of innovation is wrong. The traditional view of product development is that there is a fundamental dilemma between innovation and time to market. You can have one or the other, but not both. But this is not true. This session will provide graphical tools that you can start using immediately to help your product teams accelerate both innovation and time-to-market. These tools can be applied to organizations of all sizes – from start up to large global organizations – and will be applied to relevant case studies.
This will be a highly interactive session where you will learn how to apply the following graphical tools: Making Better Decisions Faster: Management’s role in accelerating innovation and time-to-market Applying “Just Right” processes: Optimizing process within your organization The Innovation Framework: Poising teams for success Creating Effective Teams: Time is gained or lost at the team level Eliminating Political Roadblocks: They slow teams and hinder innovation Participants will also receive free downloads of the tools that they can customize to their organization to begin accelerating product innovation. About the Speaker Jeanne Bradford (@jeannebradford)is the co-author of Innovate Products Faster: Graphical Tools for Accelerating Product Development, and a principal of TCGen, a Silicon Valley based management consulting firm, practicing in the area of product development best practices. Jeanne has been a business and technology leader across a broad range of high tech companies over her twenty-five year career. She has led global organizations to deliver compelling products and technologies for some of the industry’s leading companies, including Apple, Cisco and AOL.
