description nil We are headed BACK to Deadstock coffee as part of Portland Startup Week 2025! If you are unfamiliar, this legendary coffeeshop in Portland is founded by Ian Williams, a 2023 James Beard Media Award winner. Ian is a former Nike shoe designer turned coffee roaster and has won a ton of awards and accolades for his work in the community. He is the unofficial mayor of Old Town and works tirelessly to give back to the community. This event is open to all area founders. We can't wait to learn more about what you are working on and how we can be helpful. As always, be there thinking about ways you can help your fellow founders. No selling, no solicitations, just good conversations! Josh & Mark About founder.coffee: As a business owner, you are faced with many challenges. You're forced to make decisions every day that could make or break your business. founder.coffee is a way to network with other entrepreneurs to allow free-flowing information with the intent to collaborate and help each other. So often we're challenged and there's very little we can do to express our challenges with the people we work with or the people we care about. Think of founder.coffee as your own personal support group for business owners. We're all here to help!

This monthly pitch event brings together founders and the community to learn about what is being built here and around Portland. How this all works: If you are a founder, you will apply to pitch here. Don't worry. "Apply" simply means you want to pitch, but there's no real competitive process to be accepted. We just want to see what you're working on before we put you in front of a room full of people. You will be given 3 minutes to pitch at the event. The audience will be given a QR code to vote for their favorite pitch. The one with the most votes will go home with the Demolicious Championship belt. Teams Pitching: TBA Will you be the next founder to pitch!?!

description nil In this talk, Mustafa Akur will take you behind the scenes of query execution with Apache DataFusion. You’ll explore how queries are parsed, optimized, and executed, and gain insight into the architectural principles that make DataFusion fast, extensible, and modular. The talk will delve into the goals of the Apache DataFusion project, the problems it aims to solve in the modern data ecosystem, and why Rust is a key part in the story. Please plan to arrive between 6:30 and 7. Due to limitations of the venue, we need to have someone stand outside and let people in, and we'd like them to be able to attend, so the doors will be effectively closed at 7:00, unless you're a PSU student.

create Calagator::Event 1250481963 Techies' GameCon at NedSpace (board and video games) Roll back

description nil Come join us to network with fellow techies, and experience a vast array of games, ranging from party games to middleweight and heavyweight games! We will have over 30 board games available. NedSpace is a large space, featuring 10 private gaming rooms and 3 large common areas each equipped with 1 to 3 tables, accommodating 4 to 8 players per table. The NedSpace and GameCon communities are very welcoming and a great place to make friends, for new and experienced gamers alike. We can help you find a group to play with when you arrive or let you explore! With the event running for 5+ hours - from 2 PM to 7 PM (or a little later!), you'll have time to break out some more crunchy games if you desire. It's also great for playing lots of shorter party games and everything in between. BEFORE THE EVENT Join NedSpace's active Discord, where you can chat about the next game night and learn more about NedSpace. You can also schedule games or arrange carpools on the game night channel. On Discord, please make your username your name or nickname, so other members know who you are - it really helps for finding people at the event! You may want to bring: - board games - snacks to share - weather protection (jacket, umbrella) - water bottle, reusable plate, fork (or use our provided dishes) NAVIGATING GAME NIGHT Please make a name tag when you arrive, and feel free to grab food & drinks in NedSpace's kitchen. Folks tend to socialize for the first 30 minutes, and new games start every 20-30 minutes. If you have any questions during the event (including needing help finding a game to play/join), you can ask in the game night channel on Discord or ask one of our hosts (Lana or Sean and possibly Faris, Jarod or Ripley) FOOD INFO We provide some snacks, drinks, and other food. We encourage you to bring your favorite foods to share as well. If you bring enough for 10-15 people, that's awesome! WHAT IS NEDSPACE ALL ABOUT? CO-LABS Our Collaborative Laboratories [Co-lab] are industry-specific micro-communities; Learn from peers in a small group environment. Take on bigger work as a group. Lunch buddies too? description nil Come join us to network with fellow techies, and experience a vast array of games, ranging from party games to middleweight and heavyweight games! Photo, Film, & Design: OUR MEDIA CO-LAB An intentional design space as a central pitstop for media folk. create Calagator::Event 1250481955 2nd Annual Grassroots Gathering - A Picnic for Techies Roll back

description nil We are so excited to host our second annual techie picnic! It is going to be a potluck style event, so please bring something to eat or drink—bonus points if you bring something to share! We will have a DJ and it will be pretty casual and would welcome any type of lawn games or pups you want to bring along. We are switching up the location this year to Cathedral Park, in St. Johns. We will be in the lower, flatter area of part of the park, closer to the Willamette river. Feel free to come and go whenever works for you! This is a perfect opportunity to ask fellow techies those career questions you just can’t figure out on your own. So come with ideas to share and consider what questions you might have for others. Pro Tips: Look out for our pink Rose City Techie hats Have your LinkedIn QR code ready, business card, and contact details to swap Bring something to sit on!
