create Calagator::Event 1250462567 Online Startup Summer Camp - Meetup Roll back

description nil Online Startup Summer Camp for entrepreneurs is brought to you by OTBC, OEN, TiE, Startup Weekend, SAO, and OAF. This event is one of the (optional) weekly meetups. This summer, you can take your idea and go through the steps to launch your startup and build an investor pitch, while getting feedback and meeting lots of people. FORMAT: We'll post weekly online videos each of which covers a key task that's one aspect of preparing for an investor pitch. Week by week, you'll build a pitch deck, while developing and validating your business model. Participants can ask questions online. In fact, you can do the entire boot camp, online, on your schedule (we know schedules are a challenge during the summer).

create Calagator::Event 1250462560 WhereCampPDX 4 Roll back

description nil WhereCampPDX is a free, volunteer-created unconference for anyone interested in geography and technology. This year’s event will be happening October 12th-14th, with a full day of unconference sessions at Metro Regional Center on the 13th. An unconference is a conference planned by the participants. We convene together, plan sessions, and break-out into the proposed session discussions and activities. This gives everyone an opportunity to bring to the table the things that interest them the most, and talk about emerging topics that are still new and exploratory. We value open participation, providing access to new voices, and lowering barriers to participation. As a result, the event is driven by the interests and talents of the participants.

create Calagator::Event 1250462556 OpenSocial State Of The Union - 2012 Roll back

description nil This year's "State of the Union" event will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Jive offices in Portland, Oregon. It lines up with OSCON, the premier conference for open source technologies. We'll have discounted passes for the conference, so be sure to check out the OSCON site for all the detailed information about that event. If you just want to grab some swag, we'll also have "Expo Only" tickets as well. While past State of the Union events have been structured as a "mini conference", this year we've decided to take a different tact. The Foundation's primary goals are to enable our community in developing open standards and technology that advance the social Web and foster a vibrant, open ecosystem of social platforms and applications. This year's event will be a series of working sessions where we will focus on specific topics that, as a community, we need to address in the upcoming year. Each session will be moderated to keep us on track. The moderator will produce an "action plan" that we'll use to track our progress and measure our results. Changing an industry is never easy and, as always, there's plenty of work to do! Please come, roll up your sleeves, and join us for a great day of advancing the social Web.

description nil Agile methods are empirical methods, designed to adapt and improve based on data. So why do many experienced team members recoil at the very mention of metrics? What makes a good metric? How can practitioners avoid using good data to do bad things? July's pub lunch meeting will frame a discussion around selecting and implementing useful metrics for agile work systems.

description nil The Linux Clinic meets once a month on the third Sunday from 1 - 5 pm at Free Geek, 1731 SE 10th Avenue, Portland, 97214. Bring you Linux computer that is being a brat and we'll teach it some manners. Or bring your computer that has some evil operating system on it and we'll send it home with a shiny, clean Linux distro. Or just come and look over shoulders to see what Linux is all about. If you already know Linux well, the Clinic is also a good place to learn how to help users troubleshoot problems. It's excellent training for tech support work in Linux. We have monitors, mice, keyboards, and miscellanous other perifpherals, so generally all you need to bring is the box. There is also coffee and people usually bring munchies as well. After all, you can't computer on an empty tummy.

description nil The Linux Clinic meets once a month on the third Sunday from 1 - 5 pm at Free Geek, 1731 SE 10th Avenue, Portland, 97214. After all, you can't computer on an empty tummy.

update Calagator::Event 1250462548 Portland Perl Mongers – Programming in the Future + Intro to Dist::Zilla Roll back

description speakers: Eric Wilhelm + Jonathan "Duke" Leto (Rumored cameo / lightning talk by Florian "rafl" Ragwitz.) Programming in the Future - a preview of the upcoming OSCON presentation covering the last and next 25 years of programming technology using Perl as our time machine. We'll look at the evolution of tools, syntax, modules, and standard practices, the gooey innards, and some "hot new things" which are still being discovered again. Introduction to Dist::Zilla for Newbies - eliminates your excuses for not learning more about Dist::Zilla and using it on a regular basis. By the end of this talk, you will know how and why to use dzil as your favorite Perl package developer tool, and you might even need to publish more code on the CPAN just to have an excuse to use it more. As usual, the meeting will be followed by social hour at the Lucky Lab Brew Pub. speakers: Eric Wilhelm + Jonathan "Duke" Leto (Rumored cameo / lightning talk by Florian "rafl" Ragwitz.) description nil "A glorious pairing of movies and comedy"--Entertainment Weekly "A truly awesome experience!"--Gawker "Hilarious comedians in front of your eyes, riffing on the movie way better than you and your friends ever could hope to."--Seattlest "The Twilight series is a particular specialty of Master Pancake Theater" -- Popwatch "An essential Austin experience" -- Austin Monthly Smart, fast, and bust-a-gut funny, Master Pancake Theater's comedy (think MST3K mixed with Beavis and Butthead) has lead to years of sold out shows at the legendary Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas. The members of Master Pancake provide live comedy along with the movie, as well as hilarious skits and competitions. Now they're coming to Seattle's SIFF Cinema at the Uptown for a live skewering of the Pacific Northwest's greatest contribution to cinema, TWILIGHT! This Lost Boys rehash about a teenager who moves to a small town in the Pacific Northwest and falls in with the vampire crowd features Kristen Stewart as the new kid in town, and Robert Pattinson as the centuries-old kid in town. Kidding aside, the acting is surprisingly good: Stewart is masterful at her one facial expression, and Pattinson has perfected the pale dead-guy mystique that he honed as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter series. And if you thought you'd seen every vampires-playing-baseball cliché in the book, just wait 'til you see how director Catherine Hardwicke breathes new life into that tired set piece. Come out to Cinema 21 and let the bloodletting begin as Master Pancake sucks the life out of this preposterously ghastly modern teen "classic"!
