PDXWIT and Anne Meixner invite you to an intimate potluck-style gathering to discuss the challenges and opportunities of growing your technical leadership career! Anne will reach out before the event to coordinate what to bring. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
This event is designed for people in technical careers.
As an engineer/scientist you have the option to grow your career along a management path (i.e. you aspire to be a VP) or along a technical path. Large technology companies often have explicit management and technical leadership path. While there naturally exists an overlap in skills there is an emphasis difference. Anne Meixner PhD has designed this event for people who want to focus on their growth as a technical leader.
You will bring your companies descriptions for technical leader attributes or expectations that you and your manager have for technical leader growth. Guided group discussion will result in an understanding of the differences and similarities in these list of attributes. You then pick one area you wish to grow in for the next 6-12 months and at least one action you can take to develop in this area.
Anne Meixner has 30+ years of experience as a semiconductor test R&D engineer, most recently at Intel Corporation. Via The Engineers’ Daughter LLC, she currently consults in the areas of technical leadership, semiconductor test, and technology development. To pass on wisdom to the next wave of technologist she blogs at www.engineersdauther.org on her life experiences, engineering wisdom and diverse ability.
