Kick off Portland Pride week with PDXWIT by joining us for a very special event at Autodesk, co-hosted by Zendesk!

“We're Out Here: Queer folk talk work, tech and life” will feature 3 brave storytellers sharing their personal experiences. The evening will be MC’d by Perry Eising, who will do a brief intro and tell a short story. The following folks will also be featured:

Miki Demeter: I am More Than My Pronouns

Kaig Lightner: The Reality of the Token Hire

Hazel Valdez: Being Gay is the Way I was Born

Emma Holland, leadership team member from Out in Tech will share information about the amazing work they are doing to ensure all are seen and heard in the defining sector of our time.

There will also, of course, be time for networking. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Autodesk and Zendesk, who are making this event possible. Hope to see you there!

Q: Will there be gender neutral restrooms?

A: Anyone is free to use any restroom that they are comfortable using. We do have gender neutral restrooms located on the 5th floor that guests are welcome to use. They would need to be accompanied by an Autodesk employee as they are not located in a public space.

Q: Is the space ADA accessible?

A: Yes

Q: Will there be food and drink at this event?

A: Yes. We will provide light appetizers, beer, wine and soft drinks. We will provide

vegan and GF options.

Q: What is the parking situation?

A: We do not have onsite parking.

Q: Is there any special information that might help me find the entrance?

A: All guests must enter and exit through our front door located between 2nd and 3rd on Ankeny. All guests will need to sign in at the front desk and sign an NDA.

Q: Is there secured bike parking?

A: Yes, we can provide bike parking.

Q: Should I consider using public transportation?

A: YES! There is a streetcar and bus line stop very close to our office.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: No, we ask that you leave your furry friend home.

Purpose:

PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.

    Gay takeover!! Kick off Portland Pride week with PDXWIT by joining us for a very special event at Autodesk, co-hosted by Zendesk!

    For this first-of-its-kind event, we will get you set for Pride week. For We're Out Here: Queer folk talk work, tech and life, local heroes Miki Demeter, Kaig Lightner and Hazel Valdez will be sharing true life stories; Perry Eising will be your host for the evening; and Emma Holland, leadership team member from Out in Tech, will introduce you to another way to find LGBTQ+ tech community in Portland.

    There will also, of course, be time to catch up with old friends and network, as well as learn all about Autodesk and Zendesk, who are making this event possible.
