Women Who Code Portland - Design Study Night: Designing Augmented Reality Experiences with Torch

🎨 Designing Augmented Reality Experiences with Torch

The field of AR/VR/XR is growing rapidly, and Kami Karras will help you dip your toes in. Kami will share her spatial design process and examples of augmented reality (AR) projects built with the free Torch iOS app (https://www.torch.app/download). Be sure to bring an ARKit-available device (iPhone 6S and later, iPad 2017 and later) if you would like to follow along with Kami as she live-builds an AR experience.

    ⏰ Agenda

    5:30-5:45 - Check-in + Grab food 5:45-6:00 - Welcome from WWCode Portland + Moovel 6:00-7:00 - Designing in Augmented Reality with Torch 7:00-7:30 - Closing Remarks

    👩🏽 About our Speaker

Trained as both designer and engineer, it's not very surprising Kami Karras landed in between those worlds and found herself working in AR. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Portland's Pacific Northwest College of Art, Kami pursued her love of code at Hackbright Academy, an engineering school for women in the Bay Area. She now works at Torch (https://www.torch.app/) building AR experiences and educating others on how to build these experiences. Kami strives to inspire the world with the potential of AR and encourages everyone to play with the emerging technology while it's still young.
