PDX Women in Tech (PDXWIT) Fireside Chat with Heidi Roizen

    Silicon Valley Bank

Registration through Eventbrite [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pdx-women-in-tech-pdxwit-fireside-chat-with-heidi-roizen-tickets-49653543084] is required to gain entry to this event

Just 2 percent of VC dollars go to women, according to PitchBook, and the deal sizes are far smaller than what male counterparts receive. On the other side of the pitch table, women make up less than 10% of the partner roles at VC firms. In the world of VC, money means power. When women have power, they are more likely to invest in other women and their communities. How do we increase the number of female entrepreneurs and VCs so that the world of invention and innovation is not reserved for just one kind of leader?

Please join PDXWIT for an exclusive opportunity to hear from one of Silicon Valley's most respected leaders and VCs Heidi Roizen. Heidi has been a VC for nearly 20 years and today is a partner at DFJ. She also co-leads Stanford's Entrepreneurial Leaders Fellowship Program and advises a variety of companies including DMGT, Zoox, Planet, Memphis Meats and ShareThis. She co-founded software company T/Maker and served as its CEO for a dozen years until its acquisition. She also worked as VP of Worldwide Developer Relations at Apple. She is a well-known champion for entrepreneurs and women in tech.

The program will include an opportunity to network and hear directly from Heidi about what is working in Silicon Valley, and beyond, to increase the number of women both raising VC and sitting behind the table. Her transparent and candid style will provide insights that are actionable.

    Julianne Brands will be moderating.

    Purpose:

PDXWIT is a community-based non-profit organization. Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by offering educational programs, partnerships, mentorships, resources and opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and potential women in tech, all of whom are committed to helping each other. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encourage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing the gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative effects of that imbalance on women.

Our events are inclusive. ALL people who support our purpose are welcome.
