FridayDec 13 2019PDX Founders Resiliency Group 12/13/20 12-1:30PM
Hi All!
We are holding our monthly meeting of the PDX Founders Resiliency group on Friday December 13th at WeWork Labs 12-1:30pm.
There are many forums that speak to the blocking and tackling of creating and leading business. The intent of this group is to offer an environment where the emotional aspects of the entrepreneur’s journey can be shared and supported. In this supportive and confidential space, founders can speak their truth, get support and develop resiliency in the face of uncertainty and challenge.
All are welcome at any stage. Free, but bring your own lunch.
WeWork Labs Custom House 220 NW 8th Ave, PDX.

WednesdayOct 23 2019Junior Tech Talent + Startup Hiring Event
This is a FREE event. This is not your typical job fair. No booths, no resumes, just personal connections with like-minded people. Each company has one-minute to pitch to job seekers (who you are and what you're hiring for) Each candidate has one-minute to pitch to companies (who you are, what you're excited to bring to the table, what you're hoping to get out of your next role, why companies should hire you)
We will have a lineup of vetted talent consisting of junior developers and college students with technical and non-technical backgrounds. Candidates are seeking internships/apprenticeships, project-based work and entry-level positions. Companies consist of startups and emerging and high-growth tech companies.
The format for this event was designed with a few things in mind: minimized risk, cost, and time for the founder; pre-vetted, talented folks who were prepared and ready to pitch to companies; a safe, fun environment for job seekers to learn about the startup community and learn what it takes to be a sought after employee.

Stream All Things - Patterns of Modern Data IntegrationAbstract:
80% of the time in every project is spent on data integration: Getting the data you want the way you want it. This problem remains challenging despite 40 years of attempts to solve it. We want a reliable, low latency system that can handle varied data from wide range of data management systems. We want a solution that is easy to manage and easy to scale. Is it too much to ask?In this presentation, we’ll discuss the basic challenges of data integration and introduce design and architecture patterns that are used to tackle these challenges. We will explore how these patterns can be implemented using Apache Kafka and share pragmatic solutions that many engineering organizations used to build fast, scalable and manageable data pipelines.
