souk
This venue is no longer open for business.
UPDATE: souk is closed, but Collective Agency has taken over the physical space: http://calagator.org/venues/202392813
Hot desks + meeting rooms + community = souk.
souk's operating hours are M - F 9 am - 5 pm + upon request, tours by appointment only.
The souk facility is 5000 square feet exuding a loft-like feel with its exposed brick and HVAC systems, restored original wooden beams, high ceilings and ample natural light. Herman Miller chairs and Design Within Reach pieces round out the open plan appeal. There are NO CUBICLES.
There are two, closed conference rooms available, all with natural light, both holding about 10 people. Additionally, upon request, there is a large event space that is available for up to 150. It's used for everything from larger meeting groups to networking events and workshops.
The remainder of the space is open plan and accommodates up to 24 hot desks, many of which can be adjusted for those preferring to stand. All hot desks have ergonomic Celle chairs, Herman Miller's "green" line of office seating. http://www.soukllc.com/directions.html

SaturdayJul 16 2011Mentorship Speed-Dating -- Business, Software Development, Visual Communications–
soukAre you looking for a mentor? Are you looking for someone to mentor? Here's your chance to find a match!
Much like speed dating, we'll set you up with eight different mentors in your field, and you'll get 15 minutes to share your ideas, questions, answers and advice with each one.
Unlike speed dating, there's no awkward Yes/No checkboxes to turn in at the end. Everyone gets everyone else's contact info, and nobody feels left out. Hopefully.
We're looking for eight mentors and eight mentees (a funny word for someone who needs a mentor), in these three categories:
Business (10am - Noon) This includes anything in the topic of Business: sales, marketing, operations, finance, legal and management.
Software Development (1 - 3pm) This can include coding, programming, web app development, back-end, front-end, and anything related to making software.
Visual Communications (4 - 6pm) All things visual: art, design, graphics, visualization, photography, whatever gets the message across.
IMPORTANT: We can only accept 8 mentors and 8 mentees in each of the three categories.
To RSVP, email [email protected] and tell us your name, what category you'll be in (Business, Software Development or Visual Communications), and whether you're a mentor or mentee.)

MondayMay 9 2011Green Light Movie...The Sustainable Oroville Project www.facebook.com/greenlightmovie–
soukGreen Light Movie…The Sustainable Oroville Open House A call to action for leaders and press.
Being from the Pacific Northwest; you are considered a sustainability thought leader. You are cordially invited to our open house, a free solution based networking event.
Are you looking to get something out of the time you spend at a networking event? Do you attend green networking events to meet new people, or to participate in a solution?
Join the key Sustainable Oroville and Green Light Movie team for an engaging conversation. City leaders are saying YES to “green” through Sustainable Oroville – a civic initiative that already has attracted a canola crushing plant (which will produce canola oil and meal), as well as plans for the nation’s first sustainable, passive haus hotel. Since the launch of this initiative, Oroville is gaining attention from other clean-technology entrepreneurs and sustainability advocates who want to see it succeed.
So what’s the big deal? Oroville isn’t waiting around for the world to change … instead, it’s taking steps to change the world.
Oroville’s journey into sustainability will create a road map that other agriculture-dependent communities can adopt. Capturing this transformation in a documentary film creates a proof-of-concept that can be distributed worldwide. Through conversations with local leaders, business owners and residents, as well as sustainability movement leaders, we will show a grassroots effort creating change we NEED to see in the world.
This is your opportunity to play a part in a "think globally, act locally" solution that is happening right now while being documented in the Green Light Movie, the Sustainable Oroville Project film.
This is not your usual networking event. Stop by anytime between 3pm and 6pm. Stay as long as you like. Get one on one talking time with the thought leader visionaries. Listen to the vision, get questions answered, and see how YOU can intersect your experience, skills, and passion into this movement that is providing a solution to improve qualities of life in our very own Pacific Northwest communities.
