PNSQC June Meetup: Tech Talk Team Up with Portland AWS User Group – ProFocus The PNSQC and Portland AWS User Group are joining forces this June at ProFocus Headquarters for an evening of technical learning with cloud, security, and quality professionals from across the region. This month, Trevor Gudeman, Senior Software Engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, takes us inside how AWS can level up code quality across CI/CD workflows. With a focus on CodeBuild and CodePipeline, Trevor will show how AWS-native tools can take the manual effort out of key quality checks — think linting, unit testing, code coverage, static analysis, security scanning, and quality gates — so your team can catch issues earlier and ship with more confidence. This will be a hybrid meetup, so mingle in person or tune in online. Doors (and virtual lobby) open at 5:30pm for a half hour of pre-talk networking. Drinks provided by ProFocus. Free to attend! Schedule: 5:30pm - 6pm Networking 6pm - 7:30pm Tech Talk |

The Art of Agile Delivery (training) through Sentinel Hotel Learn everything you need to know about agile delivery in this three-day course. We use an innovative course structure that allows you to do real agile software development in cross-functional teams. Using two instructors and splitting the group as appropriate, we ensure that programmers get plenty of technical depth without boring everyone else. You'll learn:
Programmers, testers, on-site customers, business analysts, project managers, product managers, ScrumMasters, coaches, team leads, and anyone else on an agile team will benefit from this course. ResultsAfter completing this course, you will be prepared to:
Testimonials"I don't know how they pulled off the [class project], but going through four iterations brought the concepts home. Also I was a programmer wanting to learn about the project development side. Diana's four-quadrant diagrams (about stakeholders) were enlightening as was Jim's [incremental design] box diagrams and analogy of TDD to double-entry bookkeeping. Thank you!!" --Steve Tamura, Developer "Extremely educational--lots of new material. Well organized." --Dave Goldman, Senior Developer, Inspiration Software "They were great. They were funny, understanding, and answered questions well." --Ven Cohen, Programmer/Technical Lead, ISI |

Portland Java User Group: Continuous Integration – Oracle (Downtown Campus) This month's topic: Continuous Integration in a Java Environment This is a discussion about being agile with continuous integration (CI) in a Java enterprise. Topics covered will include: * Continuous integration tools * To branch or not to branch? * When to commit * When to build * Self-testing builds * Build storage Speaker: James Price James Price joined Clearwater Analytics in November 2004 and has been the Director of Development for over 6 years. James brings more than 13 years of experience in software development, having previously worked at Hewlett Packard and CQG Inc. as a developer and lead architect. PJUG meetings start with some time to eat and socialize (pizza and beverages are provided), followed by the featured speaker, then Q&A, discussion, sometimes a drawing to give away swag. :) Though we like knowing how many people to expect, you don't have to RSVP, on Upcoming or otherwise. Go ahead and just show up! Many people also go for a drink and further discussion following the meeting, at a location determined ad hoc (lately, Trees restaurant in the same building). http://twitter.com/pjug http://pjug.org/ (join our mailing list, linked from the website!) |

I want to work for _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (POWERED BY FREE PIZZA) – REGUS This month at our meetup, we are featuring Russell Smith from Tenable Security. I think this one will be exciting for all of our loyal members and newcomers equally for the following reasons: • Tenable Security is growing quite rapidly • Russ and his team(s) have nailed down the remote-friendly culture and they are open to hiring remote! • The engineering team at Tenable is doing some pretty cutting-edge stuff including full automation via CI/CD, fully trusted engineering team autonomy etc. Russ is planning to share all of these details at the meetup • Also, Russ will be our very first remote guest!!! Even though Russ lives in Sandy, about 45 minutes from downtown, we wanted to prove how successful remote collaboration can be! • We are settling into our brand new, beautiful location at Regus - Pearl. It will be a one of a kind, fast-paced experience from many actionable takeaways. You have our promise. And all powered by FREE PIZZA :) Don't forget to RSVP directly on the meetup page at http://www.balki.io/meetup |
