Description

(NOTE: This is the 2nd post as the first was deleted. LAIKA has presented at TechFestNW multiple times. Their films, imho are a marvel of engineering and design. As a member of the tech community, I believe it fits here.)

Mark Shapiro of LAIKA, the studio behind Coraline, Kubo & the Two Strings, The Boxtrolls, and ParaNorman. Mark Shapiro from LAIKA will present how these beloved oscar-nominated films are made by hand — from script to illustrations to stop-motion animation. It's a painstaking labor of love that produces an average of two seconds of footage in an week.

Mark will also give you an intimate look behind the curtain of LAIKA's biggest stars — the puppets, of course! He'll bring an armature and other stop-motion film goodies with him.

All proceeds benefit Cerimon House, a non profit arts and humanities org.
