DESCRIPTION:
On October 31, 2011, the world’s population reached 7 billion, 2 years ahead of projections by the United Nations. High birth rates are associated with developing countries where access to family planning services are limited. Inadequate contraceptive options and accessibility are also issues in the U.S. where ~50% of all pregnancies are unintended. At this Science on Tap, Jon Hennebold, PhD, Associate Scientist in the Division of Reproductive & Developmental Sciences at OHSU, will talk about research toward developing effective and safe contraceptive methods for couples seeking family planning options.
