Beginning Electronics for Dorks
Description
On Sunday September 26th Jim Eastman will be presenting an electronics course for artists, dorks and musicians.
Course short description: Blinkey lights and strange noises! With some brief lessons on electronics, you can do this and more!
This class will be a combination of theory and hands on building a circuit which will be used as the focus of the workshop.
Topics to be covered:
- Fundamentals of electronic theory
- Basic electronic devices
- How to work with electronic components
- Things that go blink: optoelectronics
- Things that go buzz: audio electronics (including kit building time)
- Resources for future electronics projects
About Jim Eastman: Jim has been studying and building electronics since his early days of geekdom. After two engineering degrees, he now gets to fiddle with these things full time. He spent several years designing electronics in the medical devices industry while working on audio side projects on his time. He now teaches electronics in the Portland area.
When:Sunday, September 26th, from 1-5 pm.

What to Bring: A soldering iron and some basic tools.

The cost of the course is $35 and it includes a mic line tester kit that you will build as a focal part of the lecture.
