DESCRIPTION:In the face of massive healthcare changes\, access to healthc
are is a difficult and important problem to solve. Barriers to care acce
ss can include: price transparency\, no price expectations\, ineffective
financing\, general lack of convenience\, dwindling numbers of physicia
ns\, inability to access transportation\, unintegrated clinical informat
ion\, limited hours of provider operations\, confusing insurance coverag
e and difficult scheduling. At the same time\, there are a plethora of
new approaches\, technologies\, applications and services being created
to improve access to healthcare. As consumer-centered care takes over a
s the norm\, the expectations for care delivery services and access to h
ealth care are being compared to other services in our day to day life.
Consumers are beginning to ask why things can’t be easier and why peopl
e in the healthcare industry can’t seem to cooperate to make the lives o
f consumers easier. Everyone in the industry has clearly gotten the mes
sage that consumer-centered healthcare is where the industry is heading\
; however\, IT is still viewed as a barrier and an enabler. &#13\;\n&#13
\;\nEnterprise architects have the difficult role of trying to help tran
sform organizations to improve access to care by defining the business\,
information\, technology and application architectures required to impr
ove access to healthcare. At the same time\, they are expected to solve
the problem from the consumer’s perspective and make a complex healthca
re system appear to be easy to navigate from the consumer’s perspective.
Architects are expected to look across the landscape of technologies\,
information and business models and produce integrated solutions that l
everage new developments and also break down existing IT barriers. &#13
\;\n&#13\;\nIn this session\, you'll hear from three architects in healt
hcare about their views about how to solve the problem of access to heal
th care. When registering\, you will have a chance to submit your quest
 ions in helping to build the program.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n### Panelists&#13\;
