DESCRIPTION:[Full details at http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/1899638/ ] S
oftware projects start with functionality and requirements. The clarity
and quality of the requirements drive the deliverables of the project an
d set the expectations of customers. Managing requirements can be a chal
lenge because we have been taught to capture all requirements up front\,
and achieve customer sign off. This process does not allow for change\,
and all software projects have change.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nEnter user storie
 s. Authoring project requirements as user stories is one of the most com
mon approaches across any agile method. In this course\, you will learn
what a user story is\, how to build and author them and how to manage an
d communicate them to users.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe course format consists o
f multiple lecture topics\, group exercises and group discussion. Ample
time will be devoted to analysis of the &quot\;real-world&quot\; industr
y experiences of the instructor based on case study examples and experie
nces managing agile projects and coaching agile project teams.&#13\;\n#S

find pricing like this anywhere else) and will sell out early. Register
now before they fill up!\n \n When shifting to Agile methods\,
effective leaders ally current skills with strategic tools that keep pe
 ople and teams on course during the transition. Researchers Klein &amp\;
Posey (1986) assert\, &quot\;...managers who have been the most success
ful in traditional systems should have no trouble adapting to their role
 s in innovative [Agile] systems.&quot\; McKinsey (2008) states\, &quot\;
Employees can't change if their leaders don't. [Agile] leaders act as ro
le models for the mindsets and behaviors they wish to instill in their t
eams.&quot\; For over 20 years the presenters have worked with leaders a
nd managers committed to collaborative and sustainable change.\n \n
Managers in the middle have a unique role to fulfill. In this cour
se you will learn how Agile organizations work from a systemic perspecti
ve\, to create strategic alignment between project teams and the rest of
the organization. Explore practices for identifying and resolving busin
ess issues\, setting goals and measuring progress\, assessing organizati
on culture\, and using organization structure to effectively address the
challenges facing you and your team. Examine the implications of Agile
environments for managing human capabilities and handling human resource
 s functions\, such as\, hiring\, retention\, reviews\, and compensation.
\n \n Learn how the most effective leaders manage the boundary
between their teams and the rest of the organization. Discover the late
st brain research showing male/female differences and translate these fi
ndings into more effective strategies for coaching and mentoring within
and across gender on high performing Agile teams.\n \n #saopdx

DESCRIPTION:In this powerful three-hour session\, you will learn and prac
tice a new way to coach your own direct reports\, a method you can put t
o use immediately — while getting a preview into the upcoming “CEO and C
IO Group Coaching Programs” from the Portland Transformational Leadershi
p Initiative (PTLI) and Oregon Training Network (OTN).&#13\;\n&#13\;\nA
recent Portland Development Commission (PDC) survey of the Portland tech
nology community found that the single greatest need is for more effecti
ve mentoring opportunities. We are responding to this need by adapting o
ur already successful C-level six-month coaching program – now focused e
xclusively on CEOs and CIOs. In this three-hour preview session\, you wi
ll get a taste of the full six-month program while experiencing a highly
effective and structured approach to executive and peer coaching. &#13\
;\n&#13\;\nYou will walk away from this first session having new insight
s into how you work with your direct reports and you will have a stronge
r sense of areas you’d like to improve in\, related to your ongoing work
as a CEO or CIO. We do this through illuminating blind spots\, building
up weak areas\, and amplifying your strengths.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nFind out
if “CEO or CIO Group Coaching” is right for you\, and walk out with new
tools in this dynamic stand-alone session for coaching your team and hel
 ping them coach their direct reports. \n\nTags: ceo\, cio\, coaching\, l

DESCRIPTION:This event runs from Saturday\, September 24\, 2011 at 9am th
 rough Sunday\, September 25\, 2011 at 5pm.\n\nDescription:\nOur 6th annu
al show will enjoy the following enhancements:&#13\;\n&#13\;\nDifferent
weekend. For the past two years we have held the PRGE on the third weeke
nd of September. In 2011 we have moved it out one week so as not to coin
cide with other events in town (like the awesome Portland Pirate Festiva
 l) and to move to a new venue that was available on that weekend.&#13\;\
n&#13\;\nNew venue. The 2011 PRGE will be held in the Exhibit Hall of th
e Portland Doubletree Hotel located in Portland's Lloyd District. The Do
ubletree is located just steps from the Lloyd Center MAX Light Rail stat
ion and just across the street from Holladay Park.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nMore s
pace. While we enjoyed a strong relationship with the Portland Crowne Pl
aza\, our show has simply outgrown their facilities. In 2010 we used ove
r 8\,500 square feet of floor space spread across two rooms at the Crown
e Plaza. Our decision to move to the Exhibit Hall at the Doubletree give
 s us access to 17\,000 square feet in one contiguous room.&#13\;\n&#13\;
\nMore games. In 2010 our Freeplay Arcade featured more consoles and ful
l-size arcade cabinets than ever before. Due to the immense popularity o
f the arcade and tournaments we have allotted even more floor space for
games in 2011. PRGE is currently working with some local arcade and pinb
all collector groups to help us secure even more game donations. Stay tu
ned for more details as we firm up these plans.\n\nTags: games retrogami

DESCRIPTION:The Northwest Regional Women in Computing (NWrWIC) Celebratio
n focuses on empowering and encouraging women to enter the Science\, Tec
 hnology\, Engineering\, and Math (STEM) fields\, particularly computer s
cience. The conference brings together students from universities and hi
gh schools\, with industry leaders from the private and public sectors t
o engage and inspire the next generation of leaders to play an active ro
le in shaping the future of computing and technology.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe
2013 conference\, to be held in October\, is the second annual event.
Our mission is to encourage women to pursue and build successful careers
