November PDMA Learning and Networking Event -- Emergening Trends in Product Management and Marketing: Which Ones Deserve Your Attention?
OTBC (Oregon Technology Business Center)

The Oregon Chapter of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) invites you to its November Learning and Networking Event on Emerging Trends in Product Management and Marketing. New ideas and different approaches emerge regularly in the disciplines of product discovery, development and delivery. Examples are design thinking, open innovation and product owners for Agile. As a group, we’ll assemble a list of the major trends that we’re observing. We’ll review what the industry thought leaders are talking about and then try to put these trends into context; whether they are major inflection points redefining product management or passing fads that detract from the execution of product management fundamentals.

The source material for this event is based on the presentation voted the “Best Session” at May’s ProductCamp Portland. The session will be interactive in nature. In addition to presenting research results, we’ll draw on the insights and opinions of the audience during a Q&A session to add greater depth and different perspectives. Come prepared with several trends you’ve heard about which you’d like to contribute to our conversation. Hopefully, you’ll leave with at least a couple of topics you’ll want to explore further.

A special thanks to the Oregon Technology Business Center (OTBC) for hosting this event.

Oregon Zoo, Skyline Banquet Room

Please join us on Thursday, January 15, for our annual SEC and FASB Accounting Update. During this session, you can learn about implementation issues surrounding the revenue recognition standard, and what the current hot topics and comment letter trends are at the SEC. An update from the AICPA/SEC conference held in early December will also be discussed.

This session features Paul Munter, a partner in KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice. Paul is involved in the development of KPMG’s positions in response to proposals from the IASB, IFRIC, FASB, SEC, and other standard setters as well as the development of the firm’s guidance and publications on both IFRS and U.S. GAAP including comparison of IFRS to U.S. GAAP, business combinations, share-based payment, and revenue recognition.

Paul served as the Academic Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission where he worked on many of the Commission’s Sarbanes-Oxley initiatives and rule-making activities. He was honored by the Texas Society of CPAs as its first “Outstanding Discussion Leader.” He has also been honored by the Florida Institute of CPAs as its Outstanding Educator and he was honored by Beta Alpha Psi as the National Business Information Professional of the Year.

Paul will be joined by Dennis White, an audit senior manager in KPMG’s Portland office serving both public and private companies.
