"Reliability and Software Tools Workshop" – The Hampton Inn & Suites We are pleased to sponsor a workshop on Reliability software and tools intended to assist engineers and others to improve the product in the development process. This event is in the form of a workshop with two sessions. The schedule is a session held both before and after a half-hour break. 5:00 – 6:30 PM – Session #1 – The focus is on describing ReliaSoft software and how each module of their software fits into a project of bringing a proposed product design to market. Dr. Umur Yenal is a Technologist with HBM Prenscia. He is involved in the delivery of training seminars and consulting projects in the field of Reliability and Quality Engineering, as well the development of ReliaSoft software products. He holds a MSc degree from the Technical University of Denmark and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona. Previously, he worked as a post-doctorate research associate and as a test manager at the University of Arizona. An MVP (Minimum viable product) is a basic, launch-able version of your product that supports minimal yet must-have features (which define its value proposition). Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a methodology for analyzing potential problems early in the product development cycle where it is easier to take action to overcome potential issues, thereby enhancing reliability through design. The tool is used to identify relationships between process and product requirements and the potential for unacceptable outputs and their effects. In this session you will: Review the various forms of product risk analysis used in different industries. She has developed a deep interest in product development and was part of a beta test group for a new internal product that was recently released into the wild. When Heather is not working, she's learning how to code at Alchemy Labs part time program in the evenings. In her not so free time, she's also the Portland City co-director of Lesbians Who Tech. Someday soon, when code school is finished, she hopes to resume her hiking, backpacking and international travel addictions. GREG GOODMAN Greg Goodman is the co-founder and CEO of ProductPlan. He has a passion for building products and companies. He was the founder of Miramar Systems, which was acquired by Computer Associates and has advised and invested in numerous technology startups including AppFolio, RightScale, HGData and Apeel Sciences. He has degrees in Computer Science and Business Economics from UC Santa Barbara. Sasha Friedman has worked in Product Management in one aspect or another for his whole career, from alternative fuel distribution, to cleantech research, to hydropower technology development, to energy efficiency programming, to custom software development. Forget your solution and run your first experiment by talking to customers and validating that they have the problem you think they have. Most companies and screen-based designers use Sketch at work. (It's pretty great). This workshop will be hands-on, and you will need your Mac laptop to follow along. By the end, you will have designed a couple of screens that you will test using InVision (a collaboration tool for design and product teams), animated through Principle or Framer, and handed off to developers through Zeplin.
