Art In The Park
1000 SW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR 97204

It's springtime, and it's time to get outside. Do you need some motivation to share your artwork with the public? How about setting up in the Park and inviting people to encourage you to create? Bring your drawing pads, ipads, paints, and easels; or just come hang out and talk to other talented artists.

I'll be set up on the riverfront near the Salmon Street Springs Fountain in Downtown Portland. Look for Garrett with an iPad at the steps where the Portland Spirit embarks.

This event is weather permitting. Keep an eye on this Meetup 24 hrs in advance for cancellations due to heavy rain forecasts.

Refresh Portland — Ladies Drawing Night, November 2016
Lucky Labrador Brew Pub

Refresh Portland is proud to sponsor Ladies Drawing Night! While a lot of people who attend Refresh events come for the technical and soft skills related to our jobs in tech, this drawing night is for those of you who create art and do it in addition to (or as a salve to) life in tech.

The event is limited to 8 participants so that we can have good conversations and share ideas on our art without navigating 50 people in the room. Bring whatever you are working on. We’ll have table space for working, but bring the supplies that you’ll need.

Refresh Portland will buy the first round of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)!

As the title states, this event is for women only. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Our Host, Susan Robertson

Susan is one of the co-organizers of Refresh Portland. She realized there was a desire for women to get together for some non-tech art creation and had a pilot meetup in the summer of 2016. It went well enough that Ladies Drawing Night is being added to the regular monthly programming for Refresh.

Learn How to Draw From Your Imagination
Online

Join us as I talk about how to improve your art skills.

I made a goal in 2021 to paint all original artwork. In the past month, I've been painting Jesus and other characters from the Bible.

During this hour, I'll share my methods of painting without references. Whatever time is left, we can have Q&A and a general discussion. You're welcome to share your artwork as well.

Be inspired!

Inktober Show and Tell?
Portland Community Church

Did you participate in Inktober this year? Even if you missed, there are still a few days left. Bring and share your stuff. I'll share my sketches I worked on this month. Have you tried any other Art challenges recently? We'd love to hear about it.

If you would like to join the discussion check us out on Zoom https://zoom.us/j/7891236789. If you want to listen, we're also on Facebook Live https://www.facebook.com/KnowledgeMavens/.

Do you want to learn and share your passion in a supportive community? Knowledge Mavens is an ethos of sharing, creativity, and inspiration.

Our Meetup provides an opportunity to "Show and Tell" followed by a feedback and Q&A. You'll have the opportunity to share with our channels such as Meetup, GitHub, YouTube, and Facebook to connect with more passionate people.

The second half of our session we'll collaborate on new topics. The winner wins an award for the most interesting topic and the opportunity to share in an upcoming session.

Making Art Everyday
Portland Community Church

http://makingarteveryday.com/ is a great way to inspire you to draw or create art every day.

Lisa Bardot has shared a daily prompt similar to Inktober to give you ideas about what to create each day. If you plan to create for just 10 minutes a day it may start an inspiring journey that could lead to an entire life of creating. Making Art Every Day also has an online community on Instagram #makingarteveryday to share your work with friends.

In this Meetup, we'll plan to bring this to life in person. Bring your art supplies, sketchpads, or tablets and we'll create together. I'll have extra supplies if you need some.

If you like to get inspiration from others, we'll see you soon! Families welcome.

Drawing Follow Along
Portland Community Church

In this Meetup, we'll perform an art follow along. This will help remove the intimidation giving you the confidence you can draw. In this session, we'll cover basics such as drawing with shapes, gestures, lights, and shadows. We'll be drawing instead of painting, so the only thing you'll need is paper and a pencil. I'll have extra if you need them.

Families welcome.

Art Share - Share Your Talents
Zoom

Would you like to share your art with other talented artists? Join us on Zoom for an hour to collaborate on our favorite art projects. I'll start us off by sharing my favorite paintings in my sketchbook. I can give a brief history of how I learned the fundamentals including shadows, perspective, composition, construction, proportions, gestures, color theory, and anatomy.

Whatever time we have left, others are welcome to share their art projects. We'll even do a Zoom poll to vote on upcoming topic ideas.
