DESCRIPTION:What does racism sound like here in Portland? Is it subtle? I
s it overt? Have I said something wrong? Have I been misunderstood? Why
is racism so tricky to talk about? &#13\;\n&#13\;\n This experiential en
gagement will explore the spoken and unspoken cultural norms of communic
ation as key pieces to advancing racial equity in yourself and your work
place. Here in the Pacific Northwest (PNW)\, which includes Oregon\, Was
hington and Idaho\, we have a unique flavor of communication norms refer
red to as passive aggressive and conflict aversion. Based on WASP (white
\, anglo\, saxon Protestant and middle class)\, the PNW regionally commu
nicates indirect and 'watered down' sharing of information. This is sign
ificant because it is hard to manage for something if you cannot name it
clearly for everyone to understand. Tone policing\, vagueness\, deflect
ing\, blaming the messenger rather than engage in the content of the mes
sage\, civility politics\, conflict aversion etc are a few forms this ta
 kes.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nPresenters Fleur Larsen and Jodi-Ann Burey\, origina
lly from Seattle and New York City respectively\, will draw from their o
wn lived experiences and invite attendees to do the same. We will identi
fy how these regional norms impede addressing racial equity when people
and institutions are not able to squarely name dynamics. White dominant
culture is held together with the glue of passive aggressive communicati
on norms here in the PNW making it really sticky to pull apart and ident
ify racism in situations or conflicts. Together\, we will name the ingre
dients needed to live into a better conversation and take racism head on
. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nTicket pricing is on a sliding scale. Nobody will be t
urned away for lack of funds for this event. Contact equity@theriveter.c
o for more information. &#13\;\n&#13\;\n About Fleur Larsen: &#13\;\n&#1
3\;\nFleur Larsen grew up in Seattle and learned how to relate to others
based on the dominant identities she holds: white\, protestant\, workin
g class\, and socialized female. The norms of this region have a particu
lar flavor of conflict aversion\, indirectness and passive aggressivenes
s that are deeply ingrained in me from an early age. Unlearning these ha
s been a HUGE place of personal and professional growth as she’s aimed h
erself at racial equity work. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nFleur started facilitating
18 years ago on challenge course programs with youth and adults. Curren
tly\, she works with several companies utilizing challenge and experient
ial facilitation with corporate and nonprofit groups. People often learn
better by doing. Experiential facilitation engages and activates more p
arts of the brain. Her style is based on sharp analysis\, flexible think
ing\, fun\, purpose and results. Her work is relationship-based with con
nection\, collaboration\, and community as integral elements to reach re
 sults. &#13\;\n&#13\;\n About Jodi-Ann Burey: &#13\;\n&#13\;\nJodi-Ann B
urey is the Senior Director of Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at
The Riveter\, a membership workspace and community platform built by wo
men\, for everyone. She leads the development of a robust programming po
rtfolio that powers The Riveter’s mission to redefine equity in the work
place. With a strong focus on intersectionality\, Jodi-Ann works to ensu
re all women and their allies—inclusive of any gender\, race\, ethnicity
 \, age\, sexuality\, ability\, and child status - can leverage The Rivet
er to develop as impactful leaders in their businesses\, networks\, and
the world. &#13\;\n&#13\;\n Jodi-Ann is also one of the founding members
and co-chairs of the Seattle DEI Community of Practice (DEI CoP)\, an e
xpansive network of professionals across industry committed to improving
DEI practices at work. Jodi-Ann earned her Masters in Public Health fro
m the University of Michigan and her Bachelors in Communications from Bo

 3\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAbstract&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAcross all industries\, fir
ms are embracing cloud technologies to advance their digital transformat
ion and business strategies. Yet there is a gap in understanding and app
lying the optimal data management capabilities required for successfully
migrating and managing sensitive data in the cloud\, and leveraging the
cloud for data enablement to drive business value across the enterprise
.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nTo address this issue\, the EDM Council formed the Clou
d Data Management Capabilities (“CDMC”) working group. The CDMC working
group was managed by the EDM Council and co-chaired by Morgan Stanley an
d LSEG\, with participation from the world’s top Cloud Service Providers
(CSPs) AWS\, Microsoft Azure\, Google Cloud\, IBM and 100+ leading cros
s-industry firms. CDMC v1.1 was released September 2021 and is now avail
able to all companies and establishes a data risk governance and control
framework for cloud\, multi and hybrid cloud environments.&#13\;\n&#13\
;\nThis discussion will dive into:&#13\;\n&#13\;\n - What are the value
drivers for CDMC?&#13\;\n - What results and progress are firms seeing b
y using CDMC?&#13\;\n - How does CDMC help with managing sensitive data
in the cloud?&#13\;\n - What role does CDMC play in driving digital tran
sformation?&#13\;\n - How does CDMC help CSP’s and other Technology prov
iders?&#13\;\n - How does CDMC help accelerate trusted cloud adoption?&#

DESCRIPTION:Most managers and HR professionals are never taught one of th
e most critical skills in business: how to let people go skillfully. Wit
hout these tools\, leaders often &quot\;wing it\,&quot\; leading to a cy
cle of fear\, guilt\, and avoidable mistakes that ripple through an enti
re organization.&#13\;\nWhat we will cover:&#13\;\nThe Reality of the Ga
p: We’ll examine the data showing why so many managers are left unprepar
ed without the training they need to handle departures.&#13\;\nThe Human
Impact: We will explore how &quot\;winging it&quot\; impacts the mental
health of the leader delivering the news and the dignity of the employe
e receiving it.&#13\;\nThe One Essential Skill: You will walk away with
one concrete\, repeatable skill to handle these conversations with clari
ty and composure.&#13\;\nWhy you should be there:&#13\;\nIf your company
hasn't invested in your training\, invest in yourself. Whether you are
the one having the conversation or the one on the receiving end\, unders
tanding the mechanics of this process changes the experience from one of
trauma to one of professional integrity.&#13\;\nStop fearing the conver
 sation. Master the skill.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\n\n\nTag
