MM model was developed using the principles and structure of CMMI Instit
ute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) a proven approach to
performance improvement and the gold standard for software and systems
development for more than 20 years\, originating in Carnegie Mellon Univ
ersity Software Engineering Institute. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nOver the last two
decades CMMI has been adopted in over 94 countries\, applied in thousan

DESCRIPTION:There is now a second bonus data presentation at this month's
Data Management chapter meeting.&#13\;\nFirst\, Information Quality (IQ
scoring) followed by an Introduction to storing time-series data in Rou
nd Robin Databases.&#13\;\nJoin us for now two presentations designed to
make you more productive in your data career.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nFor more i
nformation and to register\, visit damapdx.org&#13\;\n&#13\;\n Session 1
  - Information Quality Scoring &#13\;\nIQScoring is an assessment method
ology CQN is using across the company to help communicate the IQ state o
f key enterprise datasets and applications. It produces a simple metric
that is easy to communicate to business stakeholders and management in a
consistent way\, encouraging IQ conversations where frequently overlook
ed or excluded. This technique can be a valuable tool in the hands of D
 ata Scientists\, Analysts\, and Business Decision-Makers.&#13\;\n&#13\;\
nAbout the Speaker&#13\;\nRodney Schackmann joined Intel in 1993\, with
time in IT and business groups\, he joined CQN in 2010 where he is curre
ntly a Sr. Staff Information Architect.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nHe is a frequent
presenter at Information / Data Quality and Data Governance related conf
erences. His history includes software development\, management\, consul
 ting\, mentoring\, and strategic technical leadership.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nHi
s time at Intel has primarily been focused on Key Information efforts —
driving cross-organizational teams to better solutions with higher Infor
mation Quality results. Rodney currently runs the enterprise-wide Inform
ation Quality program for CQN.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\n Session 2 - An In
troduction to Round Robin Databases&#13\;\nAs technology professionals\,
we see a increasing applications for telemetry\, systems monitoring\, a
nd real-time trend analysis. In some situations\, unbounded storage of c
ollected measurements may be impractical or unnecessary. Round Robin Dat
abases are designed to store and maintain multiple time-series archives
at varying resolutions. They employ methods that allow the storage of mo
nths or even years of data.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWe will explore one such tool
\, RRDtool\, a project started at the Center for Applied Internet Data A
nalysis. At first\, this open source tool helped with collecting and rep
orting on internet traffic. Since that time\, it has inspired many other
uses and tools. Our goal is to explore the retention decisions\, downsa
mpling of data consistent with it's business value\, and how this approa
ch is good for solving a specific class of problems.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAbou
t the Speaker&#13\;\nChris Irvine is currently a Technology Consultant a
nd founder at Threeprong.com\, specializing in custom workgroup solution
 s\, B2B integration\, and performance tuning. He is a computer science g
raduate of Portland State University with professional experience in sof
 tware development\, system administration\, and IT management.&#13\;\n&#
13\;\nChris takes pleasure in applying technology to help solve problems
for a variety of businesses and non-profits. Recent projects meet the n
eeds of small business\, workgroups in large enterprise\, and also for g
overnment\, in many segments and varied platforms.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nSchedu

DESCRIPTION:Want to take your career to the next level?&#13\;\nPractical\
 , Hands-on Training for Advanced Excel Formulas &amp\; Functions&#13\;\n
&#13\;\nMicrosoft Excel is perhaps the most important computer software
program used in business today. That's why so many workers and prospecti
ve employees are required to learn Excel to enter or remain in the workp
lace. Unfortunately many college students\, recent grads\, and professio
nals haven’t mastered Excel or have the adequate Excel skills employers
are seeking. According to Payscale\, “ 80 percent of job openings requir
e spreadsheet and word-processing software skills. Yet so many people ne
ver even give Excel a chance because it has an intimidating stigma aroun
d it.”&#13\;\n&#13\;\nIf you walk through the finance or accounting depa
rtment at any major corporate office\, you will see computer screens fil
led with Excel spreadsheets outlining financial results\, budgets\, fore
casts\, and plans used to make big business decisions. Marketing and Pro
duct profesionals using Excel to list customer and sales targets\; manag
ing thier sales force and planning future marketing plans based on past
results. Pivot tables to quickly and easily summarize customer and sales
data by category with a quick drag-and drop. HR professionals using gia
nt spreadsheets full of employee data and understand exactly where the c
osts are coming from and how to best plan and control them for the futur
 e. Supply logistic professional to manage inventory and forecasts demand
.In essence\, you can turn an entire department around just because you

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR&#13\;\nMartin Jetton has 30+ years of advanced supp
ly chain analytics\, predictive analytics\, and statistical consulting e
xperience. He's currently a Principal at the Liberty Advisor Group\, whe
re he works in advanced supply chain analytics. In his previous role\, h
e was the Senior Predictive Consultant at Corios\; where he developed pr
edictive models and scorecards\, forecast trends\, identify uncertaintie
s\, and assign the ideal strategies to maximize performance. The firm’s
clients are in the banking\, brokerage\, credit\, utilities and healthca
re industries.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nBENEFITS&#13\;\nNot only are many business
professionals using Excel to perform everyday functional tasks in the w
orkplace\, an increasing number of employers rely on Excel for decision
support. The ability to analyze data is a powerful skill that helps you m
ake better decisions. Microsoft Excel is one of the top tools for data a
nalysis and the built-in pivot tables are arguably the most popular anal
ytic tool.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nMAKE YOUR RESUME STAND OUT&#13\;\nThey are NOT
seeing if you simply have Excel as a skill. They are diving deeping whe
n it comes to determining which candidate to interview and hire. They lo
 ok for Pivot Table\, VLOOKUP\, Macros\, VBA\, Conditional Formatting\, C
harting and Filtering…These are far more telling of your ability to an e
mployer then writing Excel. Someone who writes VLOOKUP\, Pivot Table\, F
iltering demonstrates an ability to analyse data and so has eliminated a
potential barrier in the mind of the hiring manager reviewing your resu
me. In essence\, use actual Excel functions in your Resume!&#13\;\n&#13\
;\nINCREASE YOUR EARNING POTENTIAL&#13\;\nDid you know that Excel know-h
ow can instantly increase your job prospects as well as your starting sa
lary? Excel is a transferrable skill that any hiring manager understands
is critical.&#13\;\nResearch shows job applicants who know MS Excel mak
e $22.66 per hour on average compared to the $20.14 per hour their peers
make who don’t know the program. That’s roughly an extra $20 per eight-
hour workday and $100 per work week\, simply for knowing how to use a si
ngle computer program. Moreover\, full-time employees in certain industr
ies can see a starting salary bump of anywhere from $1\,000 to $7\,000 p
er year based on their Excel skills. That’s not chump change you can ign
 ore.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nINSPIRING ENTREPRENEUR?&#13\;\nA majority 63 percent
of twenty-somethings want to start their own business. How will you sta
y organized\, track data\, or forecast your finances if you’re not sprea
dsheet-savvy?&#13\;\nMany millennials simply want their first job. But\,
what about your performance once someone hires you? The biggest complai
nt employers have about millennials is that they lack basic hard and sof
t skills. These skills include things like teamwork and problem solving\,
but also basic administrative skills like MS Word and Powerpoint. Once
you’re hired\, you want to meet the basic requirements of your role with
out stressing.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWHO SHOULD COME?&#13\;\nPeople whose work
is completed through MS Excel\; Software Engineers\, Finance Professiona
 ls\, HR Professionals\, Marketing Professionals\, Project Managers\, Tec
 hnology Professionals.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nADDITIONAL BENEFITS?&#13\;\nFOR FU
