<p>Relaunching the Urban Airship brand was a task that took as much skill as sending off an actual zeppelin into the skies. Introduced with just as great fanfare, the Urban Airship experience reached impressive heights.</p>
<p>It fell to Portland's own Owen Jones and Partners to re-launch both the brand and the website. They developed a new logo, extensive illustrations, a robust icon system, and other secondary brand assets. At the same time, they re-architected their product platform and rewrote almost all of the site content. They then melded the creative with a responsive front-end and an Expression Engine back-end to bring the brand to life.</p>
<p>How did they do it? Come find out as the Owen team discusses the challenges of simultaneously handling a company rebrand and website launch.</p>

<p>At it's core, brand strategy is about understanding your audience's needs, identifying what you have to offer, and then communicating your message in a way that resonates with your audience. Brand strategy tactics from a branditms can be put to work for your cause, business, or even for personal branding. Workshop attendees will learn brand strategy basics, and leave with an idea of how to put them to work to:</p>

These insights then get developed into personas for target audience segments to help teams and clients envision who they’re speaking to.</p>
<p>Alicia enjoys giving back to the community by taking on pro bono work for nonprofits and leading branding workshops to help the entrepreneurial community. She has been asked to speak by organizations such as USC, Etsy, Anvil Media, and PSU. Nonprofit work has included content writing for AIGA, as well as brand strategy and design for several nonprofits such as Portland City Club, Fashion Collective Portland, and June Key Delta Community Center in North Portland.</p>

<li>Deesha Dyer: An award-winning strategist, community organizer, and seasoned public speaker with an online community of 38,000 people. For nearly two decades, she has produced social impact campaigns across entertainment, politics, philanthropy, and business, specializing in causes that create tangible change. Her most recent endeavor is Hook & Fasten, a social impact firm that is dedicated to building partnerships between communities and companies around the world.</li>
<li>Jason Clark: A Research Scientist by training, Jason pivoted his career 20 years ago to build a career in sales (“origination”). He’s been instrumental in helping small and large companies grow and commercialize new products and solutions across a diverse list of businesses likes Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), Huron, BD, and startups Outcome Health and Cedar. Jason brings a heavy focus and involvement with DE&I, as he is mixed blood Native American (Lenni-Lenape) and has worked for the Senate Committee On Indian Affairs in DC.</li>
<li>Veronica Jones: With over 20 years of leadership experience, Veronica has a strong passion for building and leading teams, as well as mentoring and developing talent. As a result-oriented strategist, Veronica has a proven record of successfully enabling collaboration within cross-functional teams through the improvement of organizational processes and strategic development/implementation. Veronica has built the ability to advise and influence peers around her to help them successfully achieve their goals.</li>
<li>Sage Salvo: Gil Perkins’ (dba Sage Salvo) start-up, Words Liive, is a futuristic education technology start-up, organized around a ‘Literacy Moonshot’ goal of getting 2/3 of the nation’s children grade literate by 2045. He’s raised and earned over a half million dollars for Words Liive to further develop their technology product The Opus, which is a new Platform as a Service (PaaS) technology which enables on-demand and real-time lesson development and so much more.</li>
