DESCRIPTION:Refresh Portland is presenting this special event. We're hono
red to be hosting Daniel Szuc\, who is coming all the way from Hong Kong
just for us. Tickets are on sale now for $10. Snacks and drinks provide
d.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWhat if we could create an ecosystem that encourages p
 eople to thrive? &#13\;\n&#13\;\nPeople love …&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWorking w
ith other people and projects that matters&#13\;\nPositively influencing
and learning from the people they work with&#13\;\nEnergising people th
ey work with to be and do better&#13\;\nHaving a shared sense of narrati
ve and purpose&#13\;\nContinuously learning from customers.&#13\;\n&#13\
;\n&#13\;\nBut sometimes people spend significant amounts of time at wor
k on projects that do not provide meaning for themselves and others. &#1
3\;\n&#13\;\nWe all get caught up with the workings\, speed and delivery
of our projects that we forget about …&#13\;\n&#13\;\nOur own wellbeing
&#13\;\nTo reflect on our project stories and observations&#13\;\nTo sha
re those observations with the people we work with on our own teams and
on other teams&#13\;\nCollate the aggregated learnings from projects to
 determine what it means for better integrated practices over time.&#13\;
 \n&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis results in people feeling purposeless\, stressed\
, unhealthy and in a state of “sleepwalking.” &#13\;\n&#13\;\nSo this pr
esentation together will help us …&#13\;\n&#13\;\nTake a step back and b
reather from our projects&#13\;\nExamine the frustrations at work&#13\;\
nLook at what a successful project does and does not do&#13\;\nExamine t
he soft skills needed to nurture our own capabilities&#13\;\nLook at key
project artifacts needed to help us prioritise and focus on what matter
s&#13\;\nLook at an integrated framework for make meaningful work&#13\;\
n&#13\;\n&#13\;\nFinally\, this presentation will leave participants wit
h a manifesto for make meaningful work and an integrated framework to he
lp us all move from being stuck (“Sleepwalking”) on projects to help us
 flow (“Sparkle”).&#13\;\n&#13\;\nOur Presenter\, Daniel Szuc&#13\;\nDan
is a co-founder and principal at Apogee and co-founder of Make Meaningfu
l Work\, as well as the co-founder of UX Hong Kong. He has been involved
in the UX field for over 20 years\, and has been based in Hong Kong for
over 20 years. Dan has lectured about user-centered design globally. He
has co-authored two books including Global UX with Whitney Quesenbery a
nd the Usability Kit with Gerry Gaffney.\n\nTags: refreshPDX\, product m
