DESCRIPTION:DEMO DAY 2016&#13\;\n&#13\;\nHack Oregon has been hard at wor
 k since February using data to find insight on important topics facing o
 ur state.&#13\;\nWe've had over 100 volunteers contribute over 10\,000 m
 an hours to bring you one night of data-driven wonderment!&#13\;\n&#13\;
 \nJoin us as we unleash a new set of open data projects that will change
  the way you see Oregon. &#13\;\n&#13\;\n Kindly RSVP on Eventbrite &#1

 s&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&quot\;Oregon Hunger Equation&quot\;&#13\;\nFood Insecu
 rity&#13\;\n&#13\;\nYear after year\, Oregon has one of the highest repo
 rted rates of food insecurity in the country. If you ask the question\,
  &quot\;Who's hungry?&quot\;:&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe answer is kids.&#13\;\n
  &#13\;\n The data is clear\, but the reality is hard. We've made a dyn
 amic program to explore systemic causes of hunger at home by placing a s
 pecial focus on resources available to families with young children incl
 uding regional cost of living\, state benefit programs\, and inequalitie
 s local schools districts.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&quot\;Behind the Curt
 ain”&#13\;\nCampaign Finance&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWe're lifting the veil off e
 lection politics with a fascinating high-level view of influence and mon
 ey in Oregon's election cycles.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nHack Oregon has the only
 machine readable database for local campaign finance in the country\, an
 d we've learned that influence is as much about relationships as it abou
 t dollars. And at the local level\, your vote matters&#13\;\nA LOT.
 &#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis year\, we've added new meta-data to reveal effects
 of industry buy-in and individual patronage during an election cycle...
 with a few surprises. Unlock the real story behind politics and feel ul
 tra-empowered as a voter this November. &#13\;\n&#13\;\n“Plot PDX”&#13\;
 \nUrban Development&#13\;\n&#13\;\nData can tell us a lot about our neig
 hborhoods. At a time when Portland is experiencing rapid growth and chan
 ge\, it's more important than ever that all communities have equal acces
 s to information that can inform decisions about the future of our city.
 &#13\;\n&#13\;\nWe're giving the community access to a range of data whi
 ch has never been available on one platform. Explore Portland's neighbo
 rhoods as you've never seen them before\, on topics that you care about\
 , like demolitions\, crime\, and the rising cost of rent. &#13\;\n&#13\;
 \n“Crop Compass&quot\;&#13\;\nAgriculture&#13\;\n&#13\;\n In the Pacific
  Northwest\, we live in one of the most rich biospheres in the world\, w
 ith global demand for Oregon grown products. We have the ability to prod
 uce a wide range of food in Oregon\, but we're far from self-sustaining.
 &#13\;\n&#13\;\nHow much of our regional vitality is retained inside of
 Oregon\, and how much do we ship out? How do our economic and environmen
 tal factors work together to shape our food system? We've created a too
 l that gives insight into multi-dimensional patterns across land use\, c
 rop diversity\, subsidies\, seasonality\, and import/export  trends to h
 elp understand more about the mechanics of how food gets from farm to ta
 ble.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&quot\;Programming to Progress&quot\;&#13\;\nEducati
 on&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAcross Oregon\, some schools are lucky enough to have
 free or low-cost summer school programming and/or after school programmi
 ng--- and the playing field is not level.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n How much of a
 difference does after school and summer school programming make for earl
 y literacy\, attendance\, and future academic success of students? Hack
 Oregon has the first aggregate statewide analysis of the link between pe
 rformance and expanded programming\, with some surprising implications o
 f region-wide impact that goes beyond the classroom. \n\nTags: Hack Oreg
