From the genesis of a product idea\, to the way that technologists character ize their work\, to documentation\, to startup origin stories. Developme nt frameworks operationalize stories as a way to build features. Documen tation tells a story\, and speaks to certain stories about our users. 3\;\n \;\nHow can documentarians think critically about the way that we tell stories? How do we confront times when some stories get told ove r others? How do we talk about our successes\, and how do we not talk ab out our failures? Whose stories get heard: how do women\, people of colo r\, disabled people\, and “non-technical” workers get left out of the st ories we hear? \;\n \;\nIn this talk\, I’ll explore some of the wa ys that stories and storytelling are used in building technologies.
