 ; Gen Y\, each have a different work style and life/work expectations. J
 oin the CIO committee Wednesday\, Oct 22nd at the Governor Hotel to lear
 n how other CIO's and IT managers are dealing with the generational diff
 erences in hiring\, retaining\, and motivating these different groups of
  people.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nHear from Greg Kulander\, local expert on the di
 fferences between the baby boomers\, Generation X and Gen Y. Iris Sasaki
 \, HR professional\, who has more than 20 years of experience teaching a
 nd training managers how to hire and how to bridge the gap between gener
 ations\, and Tim Kurlio\, IT Manager for Multnomah County who prides him
 self on creating teams that function well together despite their innate 
 differences. All moderated by Lance Kidd\, CIO for Halton Company.&#13\;
 \n&#13\;\nIris Sasaki has been in the HR world for over twenty years beg
 inning as a recruiter for Tektronix and retiring as an HR executive. Iri
 s has managed her own HR consulting business since 2001.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n
 Among the organization at which Iris has been a guest speaker are includ
 ed the American Electronics Association\, the law firm of Ater Wynne\, O
 regon Employment Division\, and a guest lecturer from Oregon Graduate In
 stitute. She is active as an &quot\;Expert in Residence&quot\; at the Op
 en Technology Business Center and a mentor for the business concepts pro
 gram of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network. Iris created two training modu
 les which were adopted by the Equal Opportunity Commission.&#13\;\nIris'
  post graduate studies have focused on communication. She has published 
 two articles on the web\, the first with Business and Law Online\, and t
 he second with HR.com.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nGreg Kulander\, Ph.D. is Director 
 of Student and Educator Services at the Business Education Compact. Dr. 
 Kulander has extensive international experience and has researched and p
 racticed cross-cultural communication for 25 years. Recently he has begu
 n applying this cross-cultural expertise to the issues facing cross-gene
 rational communication. (And this interest has\, of course\, little to d
 o with his having three teenagers!)&#13\;\n&#13\;\nTim Kurlio\, IT Manag
 er\, Multnomah County&#13\;\nTim Kurilo has worked in the technical fiel
 d for 28 years. He is currently the Technical Services Manager at Multno
 mah County\, Oregon. As a computer technician in the boom of the 90's\, 
 Tim realized how important it was to promote new opportunities yet retai
 n experienced staff. He decided to join the ranks of management so he co
 uld help create an environment that nurtures the implementation and admi
 nistration of new technologies\, yet retains a quality of life for the s
 taff.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nTim and his wife\, Betsy\, have successfully &quot\
 ;blended&quot\; their very diverse families of eight children and 9 gran
 dchildren. Learning the core values and motivations of each individual i
 s just as important in the workplace as it is at home. One of Tim's favo
