Although it has been around for decades\, it continues to evolve by add
ing new functionalities\, improving performance\, and delivering new ser
vices. It is difficult to imagine going one day without Wi-Fi. In this t
alk\, we will discuss the latest generation of Wi-Fi technology\, namely
 \, Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 6 is a revolution compared to any of the previous Wi-F
i generations because it introduces capabilities that are essential to s
upport a much denser number of devices per access point\, best-in-class
security\, greater capacity\, and lower latency. We will cover some perf
ormance characteristics of Wi-Fi 6\, provide a market update\, and concl
ude with future directions towards Wi-Fi 7.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n**Biography:*
*&#13\;\nDr. Carlos Cordeiro is the CTO of wireless connectivity at Inte
l Corporation\, where he is responsible for next-generation wireless con
 nectivity technology strategy\, standards\, ecosystem engagements\, and
regulatory. In the Wi-Fi Alliance\, he is a member of the Board of Direc
tors and serves as its Technical Advisor. Due to his contributions to wi
reless communications\, Dr. Cordeiro received several awards including t
he prestigious Intel Inventor of the Year Award in 2016\, the 2017 IEEE
Standards Medallion\, the IEEE Outstanding Engineer Award in 2011\, and
the IEEE New Face of Engineering Award in 2007. Dr. Cordeiro is the co-a
uthor of two textbooks on wireless published in 2006 and 2011\, has publ
ished over 100 papers in the wireless area alone\, and holds over 250 pa
tents. He has served as Editor of various journals including the IEEE Jo
urnal on Selected Areas in Communications\, the IEEE Transactions on Wir
eless Communications\, the IEEE Wireless Communication Letters\, and the
ACM Mobile Computing and Communications Review journal. Dr. Cordeiro is
an IEEE Fellow.\n\nTags: wifi\, network technology\n\nImported from: ht
