DESCRIPTION:Nonprofit technology projects come in all types and sizes\, a
nd managing them is rarely anyones primary job. Success is often found n
ot in simply getting “the thing” done\, but in managing the process alon
g the way.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nIt’s easy to understand how nonprofit staff ge
t sidled with project management in the course of their work: you manage
the website for your organization\, so it just makes sense that you are
responsible for the upcoming website redesign project\, right? Likewise
for the CRM migration\, email platform transition\, and on\, and on.&#1
3\;\n&#13\;\nNervous about helming such a transition? That’s where this
 Lab comes in.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nManaging a technology-related project for y
our nonprofit can seem like a daunting task\, whether you have experienc
e in project management or not. Each project and organization presents i
ts own unique set of challenges. Even if you feel like you have a good s
ystem in place\, having a chance to connect with other’s approaches and
perspectives can be an eye-opening experience.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nDuring thi
s Lab\, we will spend the day working through strategies\, frameworks\,
and best practices to help guide you through the range of technology-rel
ated projects that you encounter and how to better manage them for succe
ss. Be prepared for exercises that will get you thinking about a particu
lar project your organization is currently working on or getting ready t
o begin. Also come ready to share your experiences\, tips\, and lessons
learned with the rest of the group as we work to learn as a community.&#
13\;\n&#13\;\nYou’re going to get a chance to learn from experts\, conne
ct with peers\, find greater success in your nonprofit technology projec
ts\, and have some fun along the way.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAt the NTEN Lab\, y
ou will learn how to:&#13\;\n&#13\;\n* Oversee project budgets&#13\;\n&#
13\;\n* Develop project plans&#13\;\n&#13\;\n* Reign in scope creep&#13\
 ;\n&#13\;\n* Manage internal communications &amp\; expectations&#13\;\n&
 #13\;\n* Handle vendor relationships&#13\;\n&#13\;\n* Monitor &amp\; eva
luate the “success” of your project\n\nImported from: http://calagator.o
