DESCRIPTION:Hey PDX Legal Hackers\, we're (finally!) kicking off this mee
tup group with our first official meetup. If you can attend and are inte
rested in giving a short (6-minute max) presentation on a legal hack you
've developed or are interested in developing let me know and I'll put y
ou on the agenda. Otherwise we'll be heavy on the networking for this fi
rst event and we will work together to set a theme and agenda for future
meetups. Hope you can make it! \n\nTags: legal\, pdx\, meetup:event=208

DESCRIPTION:We are super-thrilled to welcome our October special guest\,
Dana Lawson. Dana is the VP of Platform Engineering at InvisionApp. An
d the cool part is InvisionApp is a very remote-friendly company (more a
bout this at the meetup session).&#13\;\nDana Lawson on LinkedIn: https:
 //www.linkedin.com/in/dglawson&#13\;\nInvision on Twitter: https://twitt
er.com/invisionapp&#13\;\n&#13\;\nDana and I worked together at New Reli
c for about a year. The first thing anyone notices about Dana is her el
ectrifying energy and her sharp sense of humor. You can tell right away
that working with her would be super-fun and you could get lots of thin
gs accomplished with little or no stress. Dana’s illustrious career rec
ord proves my theory :) Dana had great opportunities to wear many hats t
hroughout her 18 year career in technology. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nEarlier this
year\, Dana wanted to take these lessons learned from being in that cra
zy world and do it all over again\, but better! So when the opportunity
came to build out a Platform Engineering organization at InVision she de
cided to take that chance. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis is just a teaser for all
the goodness you can expect at the actual meetup. As always\, you have

DESCRIPTION:For Novembers 'I want to work for_______' meetup we are excit
ed to have with us Brynn Dirksen - Associate Art Director at Razorfish.
She specializes in UX design and we look forward to hearing her thoughts
and her journey in the digital marketing space.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAn excer
pt of her journey in her own words -&#13\;\n&quot\;While I started my ca
reer in the design industry working on print projects\, after joining Ra
zorfish as an Art Director\, I dove deep into the world of digital desig
 n. As a digital agency Razorfish has a large UX department\, and from th
e get-go I was interested in this &quot\;experience-based” take on desig
 n. Razorfish encourages employees to experiment with other disciplines\,
and when I started exploring\, UX opportunities immediately opened up f
or me. I had always enjoyed visual design but once experience design was
thrown into the mix\, the design problems I had once found interesting
became truly fascinating. Jumping on the chance to expand my skill set l
ead me from a job I enjoyed\, to one that I’m truly passionate about.&qu

DESCRIPTION:&#13\;\n&#13\;\nForge is pleased to announce the second set o
f presenters in its monthly series on AI Morality\, scheduled for Novemb
er 15\, from 6:30-8:00 pm: Steve Taylor from The College of Robotics and
Eric Brickenstein an attorney at Hagland-Kelley LLP.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nSte
ve will talk about where he sees the future of robotics going and how ro
bots will interact with AI in the very near future. We are already seein
g examples of robots using machine learning to learn from each other in
order to better accomplish factory jobs\, and as we move closer to AI\,
robots and machines will become increasingly autonomous from human input
or control.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nEric will frame in broad strokes the fields
of legal inquiry that may emerge as AI begins to have the ability to ‘th
ink’ and ‘reason.’ Eric will address issues of privacy and how data can
be collected\; discuss briefly the potential for any legal framework to
govern the development of future AI\; and broach the topic of machine ri
ghts and a theoretical framework for considering when rights might attac
h to certain types of machines.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nOur last discussion posed
4 questions: How is AI and AI morality defined? What are the dangers an
d opportunities associated with AI? What about our relationship to techn
ology will always be true? And what about our relationship to technology
will likely change as AI develops?&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis session we will
consider 4 new questions in small group/break out format.&#13\;\n&#13\;\
nTickets are limited to 50 participants and sold out in a week for our 1
st session. Beer will be provided.&#13\;\n\n\nImported from: http://cala
