Lucky you, Paul Sohi, our Fusion 360 Evangelist extraordinaire / chump (https://www.instagram.com/fuseps) will be in our Portland office, so we've decided to host a Fusion 360 meet-up and put him on the spot to answer you questions. Meet fellow users in our Portland community, as well as the folks behind the software. Paul may even show off some of his own workflow tips for making the most of Fusion 360! Come for the knowledge, stay for the beer banter and pizza! |

Design Challenge: Build a better UAV, save rhinos – ADX Hey Everyone! Want to build your own unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)? This December we are going doing a two weekend open-sourced design challenge to take an existing UAV design, make it better, and build it. What for? To save rhinos. Presently rhino poaching is a horribly growing epidemic. By creating an inexpensive, effective, reliable, open source UAV we'll be able to help security teams respond to these fast moving and well-organized crime details. We're working with local maker space ADX, locally developed design software Fusion 360, the PDX Drone User Group, and UAV professional Stan Hisel. Come join us! Event is Dec 7/8 & 14/15 (in the mornings) at ADX Portland. There is no cost to participate, just pay your way on your team's materials. Space is limited to six teams. The timing of the challenge is set to coincide with a bigger competition called the Wildlife UAV Challenge which has $65k in prizes to the winner. If things go well in this tiny challenge it's a great springboard to move forward. 3D Printed Jack O Lantern with a Digital Display – Portland Community Church Do you have a creative idea for a Halloween costume? Or perhaps you want to show your awesome Jack-o'-lantern. Or what if you have brilliant ideas for decorations? We'd love to see them all! I'll bring a 3d printed pumpkin and insert a screen for a fun display. I'll share how I customized it with fusion 360 to fit my display. This project would work great if you have a raspberry pi or arduino with a screen. You can even connect motion and sound for an extra spooky experience. If you would like to join the discussion check us out on Zoom https://zoom.us/j/7891236789. If you want to listen, we're also on Facebook Live https://www.facebook.com/KnowledgeMavens/. Do you want to learn and share your passion in a supportive community? Knowledge Mavens is an ethos of sharing, creativity, and inspiration. Our Meetup provides an opportunity to "Show and Tell" followed by a feedback and Q&A. You'll have the opportunity to share with our channels such as Meetup, GitHub, YouTube, and Facebook to connect with more passionate people. The second half of our session we'll collaborate on new topics. The winner wins an award for the most interesting topic and the opportunity to share in an upcoming session. |
