Beers with Engineers
10 Barrel

A monthly gathering for Portland area tech junkies. More specifically, those focused on data, emerging technology, and general IT topics. Industry vets, IT pros, nerds, geeks, tech philosoraptors, whatever.... Whether 5 or 50 this is an awesome opportunity to get together and talk shop, learn from peers, or just have some beers and a good time.

No management, No selling, No recruiting, No problems. Talking to people about your product(s) or career networking is fine but people "leeching" on the attendance isn't cool so don't do it. Industry folks with expense cards typically cover festivities but this isn't a "sponsored" event and we don't intend to turn BwE into "powerpoint parties". Venue will be dynamic alternating between locations and if group size demands we'll book a location to support.

If you're new to the group or haven't been out in a while we're a pretty dynamic crowd and always have a lot of fun.

Service Design PDX - Monthly #ThinksnDrinks
10 Barrel Brewing Co

Meetup Structure:
2018 marks our 3rd year as a meetup! We meet at 10 Barrel every other month for casual #thinksndrinks and chats. This is perfect for someone who wants to learn about Service Design, talk about new trends, share current projects, and ask for advice from the group.

You will be able to find us at 10 Barrel because we will be the only people with print outs, worksheets, post-its and sharpies. :) We sketch. We talk. We have beer. It's a good time.

Every other month when we're not at 10 Barrel, we host hands-on service blueprinting workshops. In exchange for hosting our group, we collect problem statements/ user scenarios from our hosts in advance, and lead a hands-on workshop to build service design blueprints and deliver recommendations in 2 hours. Location of the workshops will vary.

If you have a connection to a business who might be interested in hosting us for a workshop, please send along an introduction: [masked]

To dive in to everything Service Design, our favorite resource is http://www.practicalservicedesign.com. Check out the community on Slack!

Beers with Engineers
10 Barrel Brewing Co

No agenda, no pitch, no bullshit. As always, come geek out, network, and have a good time. Booze and food is on somebodies company card (to a limit). If group size demands it reservations will be made, otherwise check the bar area or a hostess for the group.

Starting in Seattle it's been a lot of fun over the years. The group has defined some "regulars" but we continue to host a diversity of interesting folks from all over the industry in all types of engineering roles. Locations will be dynamic throughout 2017 so keep an eye on that when registering.

ADX is turning 7 years old! Come celebrate with us!

We’re closing down the shop starting at noon and reopening at 1pm to hold annual birthday party – this year’s theme: DEMO DAY! We’re staffing the shop tools with experienced makers and running demonstrations of the tools from 1-6pm. Never seen a CNC operate? Ever wondered how MIG welding works? Want to see the versatility of a printing press? We’ll take the mystery away and inspire you to make!

Since we’re turning lucky number 7 we’ll be holding a raffle at 6:30pm for some awesome ADX prizes, including memberships, classes, and merchandise! You can enter the raffle by purchasing a MAKER bingo card for $7 that lists all the demo’s being held throughout the shop. Attend 5 demos to complete your card and turn it in to be entered in the raffle!

Beer and cider will be free and provided by our sponsors. You can drink while watching the demos, but no hands-on tools! The event is free, but please RSVP here so we make sure we prep enough material and have plenty of beverages and snacks on hand!

PURCHASE BINGO CARDS IN ADVANCE to CHOOSE YOUR ADVANTAGE: an extra entry in the drawing, a free stamp on your BINGO card or an ADX sticker (one per person, please).

Winter has arrived in Portland, and now is the time to stay in and keep warm next to your 3D printer's cozy heated bed.

Come celebrate the arrival of the holiday season with fellow 3DP enthusiasts at a happy hour social sponsored by local 3D printing innovators ProtoPlant in conjunction with the Portland 3D Printing Meetup Group, Autodesk and MAKE magazine.

Mix, mingle, and watch 3D printers in action. Food and beer provided. Win door prizes from MAKE, Matter Compilers, and ProtoPlant!

YOU MUST RSVP for this free event, as we are limited in space to 150 people.

RSVP here on our Meetup page.
