 October 12\, 2010 – Kicking off Global Entrepreneur Week\, Startup Weeke
 nd Portland is open to entrepreneurs\, developers\, marketing folks\, st
 udents\, lawyers\, angel investors\, and anyone who wishes to spend an i
 ntense and intensely fun weekend building a team to start a new company.
 &#13\;\n&#13\;\nUnder the guidance and encouragement of business leaders
 \, mentors and investors\, attendees pitch their business ideas on Frida
 y evening. The most viable ideas are chosen and teams begin to form orga
 nically. Over the weekend\, teams are coached\, guided and taught by mem
 bers of the startup community to produce a working business model by Sun
 day. All teams present to a panel of judges\, comprised of leaders withi
 n the local entrepreneurial community\, and a winner is chosen.&#13\;\n&
 #13\;\nRegister by going to the web site. Ticket prices are $75 for memb
 ers of the business community and $40 for students.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nNotab

 Startup Weekend is a non-profit\, global organization supported by fundi
 ng from the Kauffman Foundation. Startup Weekend events are currently he

 onth. One event which created worldwide interest was Startup Weekend in 
 Tel Aviv\, Israel for Israelis and Palestinians. The two groups coming t
 ogether and cooperating to build businesses created a positive buzz arou

 ls. His influencers include Sam Soffes of Nothing Magical and Maciej Ceg
 lowski of Pinboard. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nJackson Gariety attended Grant High 
 School 2009 to 2012\, he started doing freelance web design in early 200
 9. His first clients were local businesses and slowly grew his abilities
  and network to pay for better design and development tools. In 2012 he 
 started working with Brian Hendrickson to build a social web platform ca
 lled HashTraffic which has been developed and is currently being sold. H
 e also teaches a class on app development. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nAndrew Oester
 reich is a 12 year old 7th grade entrepreneur who attends Wood Middle Sc
 hool in Wilsonville. He started out by doing odd jobs for his neighbors 
 then moved on to giving younger students drum lessons.  Last fall\, he v
 entured in on a duct-tape wallet business with 2 friends.  It wasn't lon
 g til half of the school had a shiny new duct tape wallet.  He loves sha
 rk tank and is always looking for new businesses to create.  &#13\;\n&#1
 3\;\nThe emcee for The Dog Ate My Startup and open QA event is the alway
 s funny\, the sometimes sober\, and the ever flatulent John Friess\, fou
 nder and CEO of Journey Gym. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nDoors open at 5:00pm for ne
