DESCRIPTION:Anna Lorimer will present Security Internships: Bringing up t
he next generation of hackers&#13\;\n&#13\;\nSoftware engineering intern
ships are increasingly popular and are becoming an integral part of care
er development for newcomers to the tech scene. They’re also valuable to
any organization because they give senior engineers the opportunity to p
ass on knowledge and make it easier to find full time hires down the roa
 d. While there’s plenty of information about how to run a software engin
eering internship\, the same can’t be said for security internships. In
this talk I’ll discuss how security internships differ from regular soft
ware engineering internships\, how to find interns\, and how to structur
e internships to set up both your organization and the intern(s) for suc
cess.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nBio: &#13\;\n&#13\;\nAnna Lorimer is an undergradua
te student studying math and computer science at the University of Water
loo in Waterloo\, Canada. She’s done 5 internships over the course of he
r undergraduate career and is currently doing her sixth with New Relic’s
Product Security Team in Portland. She is also the co-founder of StarCo
n\, a technology conference focused on the joy of technology and buildin
g a community around sharing technical knowledge.&#13\;\n\n\nTags: owasp
