DESCRIPTION:Health Information Technology Gets $19 Billion Boost\, Compar
ative Effectiveness Research Gets $1 Billion &#13\;\n&#13\;\n &#13\;\n
The new economic stimulus bill is an example of the priority and urgency
the new Congress and Obama Administration gives to reforming the health
care system. As part of the stimulus package\, signed into law by Presi
dent Obama\, $19 billion is now dedicated to transforming the patient re
cord to an electronic format and adopting standards\, to be developed by
Jan 1\, 2010. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nPractitioners will receive incentives to
use&#13\;\n&#13\;\n Heath Information Technology (HIT) standards that mu
st be developed by Jan. 1\, 2010. &#13\;\nPhysicians and other practiti
oners will be eligible for up to $64\,000 in incentive payments over sev
eral years for the meaningful use of an electronic medical record for pa
tients. By 2015 all physicians will be required to use electronic record
s in their practice.&#13\;\n Hospitals will also be eligible for $1-9 mi
llion in incentives for meaningful EHR adoption.&#13\;\nThis stimulus pa
ckage is expected to create new opportunities for entrepreneurs to provi
de technology and services to healthcare practitioners and organizations
. It will also focus on developing the health IT workforce that institut
ions like OHSU are already doing\, creating new career opportunities in
this area.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nTIE Oregon has partnered with OHSU and lined u
p a great panel of healthcare industry professionals and entrepreneurs w
ho have pioneered the development and use of Electronic Health Records\,
who will provide insights into this industry and how entrepreneurs can
capitalize on this opportunity. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nIf you are looking to ge
t into this field this is your opportunity to network and learn! &#13\;\

n the adoption of agile methodologies throughout the software developmen
 t process. In this session\, you'll take a multi-year journey with a gro
wing small business and experience the transition from the blissful igno
rance of cowboy-coding through the misery and despair of a sinking\, dys
functional organization\, and on to the satisfaction and exhilaration th
at comes with a high-functioning agile team. This session describes both
the pain and the fulfillment that comes with developing software in a s
 mall business\, before\, during\, and after agile.&#13\;\n &#13\;\nBio:
Chad Casady is the Director of Information Technology at Performance Hea

&#13\;\nDETAILS: &#13\;\n&#13\;\nWhat does the actual health reform plan
look like\, what happens when 30 million new people enter the “system”
as we know it\, and what will it all mean for your organization? “Obamac
are” has survived the Supreme Court\, but the health reform law itself m
ay be overshadowed by larger shifts in market power - and continuing gov
ernment budget crises\, as lawmakers target Medicare and Medicaid as sou
rces of major savings. This session provides a critical overview of whe
re health care stands today\; the latest on spending trends and market d
ynamics\; and how the health reform plan will play out for all major sta
 keholders\, including providers\, payers\, employers\, patients and cons
umers. This session examines the concurrent effects of the reform plan\
, health insurance market upheavals\, increasing patient economic empowe
rment\, and emerging information technologies on today’s health care org
anization. And it lays out a practical framework and set of critical suc
cess factors for your organization going forward\, as health care faces
the greatest challenges and changes in our lifetimes.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n J.
D.Kleinke has been instrumental in the creation of four health care info

rategy services to new and established health care companies\; and sat o
n the Boards of several public and privately held health information com
panies. In 2012\, he was a Resident Fellow of the American Enterprise I

system\, Bleeding Edge: The Business of Health Care in the New Century a
nd Oxymorons: The Myth of a U.S. Health Care System\, and Catching Babie
s (2011). His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal\, New York Ti
 mes\, Barron’s\, Health Affairs\, JAMA\, the British Medical Journal\, M
odern Healthcare\, Managed Healthcare\, Forbes\, and numerous other publ
ications. Since his earliest writings on health policy and market dynam
ics in The Wall Street Journal in the early 1990s\, Mr. Kleinke has long
been known as a forceful\, non-partisan advocate for an evidence-driven
 \, computerized\, patient-centric health care system.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n**T

DESCRIPTION:In the face of massive healthcare changes\, access to healthc
are is a difficult and important problem to solve. Barriers to care acce
ss can include: price transparency\, no price expectations\, ineffective
financing\, general lack of convenience\, dwindling numbers of physicia
ns\, inability to access transportation\, unintegrated clinical informat
ion\, limited hours of provider operations\, confusing insurance coverag
e and difficult scheduling. At the same time\, there are a plethora of
new approaches\, technologies\, applications and services being created
to improve access to healthcare. As consumer-centered care takes over a
s the norm\, the expectations for care delivery services and access to h
ealth care are being compared to other services in our day to day life.
Consumers are beginning to ask why things can’t be easier and why peopl
e in the healthcare industry can’t seem to cooperate to make the lives o
f consumers easier. Everyone in the industry has clearly gotten the mes
sage that consumer-centered healthcare is where the industry is heading\
; however\, IT is still viewed as a barrier and an enabler. &#13\;\n&#13
\;\nEnterprise architects have the difficult role of trying to help tran
sform organizations to improve access to care by defining the business\,
information\, technology and application architectures required to impr
ove access to healthcare. At the same time\, they are expected to solve
the problem from the consumer’s perspective and make a complex healthca
re system appear to be easy to navigate from the consumer’s perspective.
Architects are expected to look across the landscape of technologies\,
information and business models and produce integrated solutions that l
everage new developments and also break down existing IT barriers. &#13
\;\n&#13\;\nIn this session\, you'll hear from three architects in healt
hcare about their views about how to solve the problem of access to heal
th care. When registering\, you will have a chance to submit your quest
 ions in helping to build the program.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n### Panelists&#13\;

&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe Brief&#13\;\nDemonstrate how AI can improve the hea
lth journey by completing a job to be done. &#13\;\nCodyMD envisions an
ecosystem of AI bots or agents performing a number of jobs to help make
the healthcare journey more delightful\, efficient\, and effective. From
pre-care\, to care\, to post-care the healthcare journey is defined by
a number of “jobs” that need to be done by patients and providers. Curre
ntly these jobs are done with a lot of elbow grease and hundreds of inco
mpatible systems. Redundancy and inefficiency reign as people wade their
way through the friction in the system trying to complete hundreds of j
obs including self diagnosis\, health history\, and payment.&#13\;\n&#13
\;\nExpert Panel&#13\;\nParticipants will have access to an expert panel
of healthcare innovators and experts. &#13\;\nAsk a panel of experts ab
out how and why friction points exist in the health journey. Leverage in
sights to create your prototype. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nJudges &#13\;\nOur judg
